well thats what makes football the most popular sport on this planet, doesnt it ?
So you don’t think that football is the most popular because it has a big history and is one of the easiest games to set up and play; all you need is a ball.

Camera technology will never be introduced unless there is some sort of subsidy that enables lower division teams in every nation to be able to afford them as well as all the ‘big’ teams. In our current barely stable economic climate, it would not make fiscal sense to introduce goal-line technology as a blanket policy across all football teams.
What should be done at the very minimum is the continued testing of extra officials on the goal-line, one at each end of the pitch – giving a total of 5 match officials. Having an official there would have cut down on the phantom goal yesterday along with half a dozen good/bad penalty decisions that we’ve seen so far this world cup already.
I firmly believe it’s time for Sepp Blatter to step down and let a more youthful team of people take over as president(s) of FIFA. We need people who can accept and understand that football is changing and it’s not the same game that was played 100 years ago. Millions are invested into the sport, let’s not let millions be wasted by poor policies and inadequate facilities.

Well in my opinion no, that isn’t why football is the most popular sport. I don’t think that the reason football is the most popular sport worldwide is down to it not using technology to help ensure fair decisions are made. For example, back when there were no linesmen, it was down to just the referee to decide who’s throw it was, and whether it was a corner/goal kick or a throw in. Linesmen were then introduced to aid the referee and make these decisions more ‘fair’ and that didn’t ruin the game did it? It made it more fair, since the percentage of correct decision increased greatly.
If you listen to what any of the top players/managers/clubs and even referees are saying, 95% are saying they want at least goal line technology.
everyone was coming up with that technology bullshit … you guys dont understand it, it would destroy the football we see right now, full of emotions and drama which make it fun for us to watch)
Again, I have to disagree. Having at least goal line technology would not ruin football? If you honestly think that having some sort of technology that determines if the ball was over the line or not (be it a camera or a sensor) then you must be deluded. Millions of people worldwide watch football and have continued to watch football with rule changes happening all the time. If you want to compare to other sports introducing video technology, tennis, rugby and cricket viewing figures have all grown since introducing the technology.

In Wimbledon only the best courts have Hawk-eye technology. Loads of smaller tournaments have to rely on the judgements of the line judges without the aid of technology. You’re right it’s not feasable to apply it across the whole sport but surely if it is able to be implemented at the top level shouldn’t it be possible?
Interesting read I thought: http://goo.gl/L3TE
