No, it’s just about how famous you are in the scene. Anyways look at higher teams, I can bet that if you would try to apply for one, even though you meet requirements they will try out a more famous player than you (even if he is bad). And to answer your question, when jumping divs is important that you actually keep up with the teams and opponents. Thinking that you are owning in the current division and that you are better than anyone of those “higher players” will make you just be worse than them.
Message to the teams: Just give a chance to lower players as well to try out and see that they can actually be better than other possible candidates which are coming from a higher skilled team.
That won’t stop the over rating idiots but w/e

As sad as it is, this is true. I played 2 seasons in Div6 because not a single Div4 team would give me a try even though I was well capable simply because I had nobody to back me up on it and lacked the experience. I know quite a few people who can play Div5+ without a doubt but are extremely unlikely to get the chance due to not having the experience and/or the friends to get the chance to prove it.
Unfortunately, as mentioned earlier for every 1 of those players there’s 50 people utterly incapable of doing the same yet those people will still try and play above their div, meaning you have to wade through a ton of players who will effectively waste your time before finding the few talented players. This means not a lot of people are inclined to do so, which means those talents go unnoticed.
Should have started out with pickups Bill. Its how I got into a div4 team right away (we even promoted to div3). Same for Kaidus I guess :P.
oh… it was so easy to get team back in pickup1 starting days :]]
i remember trialing for two mid+ (div2) teams after playing at competative level (mainly pickups) for max two weeks
and…one of the picked me… so gg :]

I did. I’d played pickups for 9 months and nobody ever tried me (apart from Chaplain <3), got into them by talking to -D0gs- (die Soldier die jullie in Rejects namen en na 2 dagen moest stoppen door z'n uni die steam blokte :p).
Back in the days, huh? :P
A shame it’s pretty static now, and such “luck” like you guys had is pretty much impossible now..
Is there any pickups left which are actually active?

Sounds exactly like my recruit in NA lol… the difference being that @3am pugs were actually decent and had top players in them.
Now it’s utter shit with bad players.

Not really. As was already said (in your other thread, I believe), most people spend their time mixing/doublemixing.
I found a div4 team that won div4 from pickup 1 :)

I suppose it was easier to get noticed back in the days when pickups weren’t dead..It’s the way a lot of players got noticed, and it’s where we found kaidus… The only way now I guess is mixes or somehow getting to know higher skilled people who can vouch for you if theres anything to vouch for… If you’re miles ahead of your division raw talent wise you will get noticed anyway like cookye.

The problem is that people take every game too seriously. Teams/People trying to improve never have an “ah well, lets just play for fun and see if we can win, if we don’t, **shrugs** doesn’t matter”. No every match is a life and death situation of the utmost seriousness and nobody can make mistakes or do anything a little different.
Thats a big part of the reason I didn’t bother really to play much after I left px2. With the exception of rej, I’ve just never come across a team above div5 who are capable of having fun without winning.
