I started to use a CFG that constantly healed without me pressing M1and when I press M1 I stop healing . Makes it quicker than the default auto heal in the game options .
However now hold the button down . Wildcard said I should :3
….But what do I know im incredibly bad at medic :/

Lol same :P
It takes two clicks to change healing target. So no.
I use the auto-heal, just to give my index finger a rest. Holding M1 down for like 25 mins per map can be quite straining. Plus it’s easier to keep tabs of people’s health when I don’t have to worry about holding down the M1 button to keep healing the person I’m currently healing.
The one thing that I really did need to get used to was quick switching between targets with auto-heal, because you’ll be doing twice as many clicks (w/o auto-heal you’re doing one to switch, w/ auto-heal you’re clicking once to take the Uber off your current target and another to start uber/healing another target.) Despite having the feature on for a good few months, I still haven’t gotten used to this aspect of the auto-heal function yet.
Secondly, less a problem to do with the player but more a graphical problem, is that sometimes the heal beam will stretch across like half the map to a player you were healing previously so this can get confusing when your quick reference to see if you’re healing somebody isn’t there (i.e. the heal beam) and so you have to rely on the health bar on your hud. :P

Huh? Nothing stops you looking at other players while you heal someone.

Umm, what? This is simply not true, at least not with the built in auto heal. And judging from how most of the scripts look, its not true for those either.
Ok guys i did some tests here and this are the results:
I used:
-2 medics (1 autoheal, 1 without)
-4 soldiers (2 for each medic)
I made a simetrical setup like this:
…………………soldier1
medic1 (Non-Autoheal)
…………………soldier2
#########################
………………… soldier3
medic2 (autoheal)
…………………soldier4
-Both medics start healing at the same time and switch between their targets rapidly.
-Both medics use the “Non-Autoheal Technique” to heal their targets.
-When one medic reaches 100% ubercharge the test ends
Result:
Test1:
-medic 1 (non-autoheal): 93%
-medic 2 (autoheal): 100%
Test2:
-medic 1 (non-autoheal): 94%
-medic 2 (autoheal): 100%
Test3:
-medic 1 (non-autoheal): 93%
-medic 2 (autoheal): 100%
This leads to: If you think autheal is slower you are wrong. It compensates errors and the time it takes to release mouse1 and press it again to switch targets. So even if you want to keep your “HOLD-MOUSE1” style you should activate autoheal.

Good work on testing something in the least accurate way possible!

explaint that to me.
Overthink it your argument is not valid!!
The test results are way to constant.

Spike. No there isn’t. But the point I wished to make was that it was one less job to do, so to speak. I cannot multitask very well so having that one thing do the healing for me (after I’ve clicked on a teammate, of course) really does help me because knowing me I’d probably forget to keep tabs on my team’s health because I’d be worrying whether I was holding down M1 or not. xD
So, the auto-heal with regards to this has nothing to do much with the game, more to make sure the component between the chair and the keyboard does it’s job properly. :P
Skeej. Ah, you’re right! My mistake. Apologies. D:

Thx Xhunter, for confirming my suspicions and reasons to use auto heal, and shutting up the naysayers :D
And don’t mind Spike, he’s just trying to cope with a little something called “cognitive dissonance”:)

I’ve yet to see a game where the medic is constantly switching heal targets. A more realistic test would have been to have a 4~5 second delay between the switching.
Yes, you have proven that autoheal is more efficient, but only by 1~2 percent (the result you’d get from a more realistic test). Which is as good as no difference at all. I die at 99% about twice a month, and that’s mostly due to bad positioning (would’ve been able to pop uber if I had any gamesense).
tl;dr there is no realistic difference
Also don’t mind skeej, he’s abusing placebo.
p.s. the fact autoheal is chunky and inaccurate still remains

7% is the extreme case.
