Assuming your dedicated servers are in France, then they’re going to be covered under the French Data Protection Act 1978.

Legally, if you want to keep information about a user, their ip address etc, you will need to register with: Commission nationale de l’informatique et des libertés (French Data Protection Authority). I imagine you haven’t done so, might be worth thinking about :)

As an individual I do not have to make a declaration to the CNIL for this kind of data.

In essence, the whole point of my continued hatred of your plugin is because of all the mistruths and sneaky shit you’re doing behind people’s back. You have no right to collect people’s IP addresses, Steam IDs etc without the EXPLICIT permission of the user involved. Obviously this cannot be obtained individually, so it would be done on a per server basis where the user agrees that by joining the server dblocker will keep personally identifiable information on file.

Until you implement this and make it clear on your website, I will continue to speak out about it. I find you a deceitful little man.

I will add a message on the website and an other in a future plugin update that will be printed to the user’s console at his connection for all privacy paranoids.

If you had taken time to contact me directly regarding this problem instead of shitting on the plugin everywhere you could, this issue would have been fixed since a while.

As far as I understand, dblock will only be able to prevent wallhacks and speedhacks.
To my knowledge, speedhacks are quite easy to spot, primarily due to the user moving slightly faster than the rest. So this is quite pointless.

Wallhacks on the other hand are much harder to spot, this plugin will actually prevent potential and current users of wallhack. BUT! The anti-wallhack feature of dblock operates by not sending info about players that the player in question can not potentially see. (eg. behind a wall) This means that if anyone wants to make a video where the user frags someone behind a wall (eg. by rollers, or by airshotting someone and then falling behind a wall) and they want to smooth it, to show how the victim dies, it will not be possible.

VAC deals with “Public hacks” and the AC team deals with everything else I honestly don’t see the issue with how things are now. It’s not like we suddenly have a wave of suspected cheaters.
