Is this system soley going to be for casters, or are you going to integrate it into your server system?

Casters, reservation system and more.

* It will be part of the reservation system, tick a box and you’ll automatically get a live-stv-delayed stats link for your reservation.
* I want it to be something you can check during your matches, so you can make informed opinions on the strategy of your team. “We need to focus their roamer, he’s doing way too much damage”.
* Allow casters to determine interesting players to watch. “Kaidus did the most damage and kills on the first middle last round, let’s see how Broder deals with him this round”
* Automatic(?) uploading to logs.tf. With the reservation system you already have a one-click upload to logs.tf after your match is over. This system would allow something similar for any gameserver where you have rcon access for. Could even upload when the first map is over and check your stats on logs.tf before beginning the second map.

In other words, what http://www.streplay.tv/ is supposed to offer and even more – for free.

Nope, would be nice though. There’s no connection from the tool to caster’s TF2 atm.

Also, remember I’m limited by what’s logged, so airshots are not going to happen without a plugin.

Surely you could have a text box for the streamer that says “X player gets a 4 man in 10 seconds”

I think Streplay requires a plugin, but does some extra stuff, like minimap (I think?). I want this to work on every server, but with extra information if you run TFTrue/smx-damage-plugin.
As for pricing…I haven’t decided yet. I’ve tried donation-based for the server reservation system, but that’s not really working out and requiring payment before use is just going to mean nobody will use it I’m afraid ;)

Heck yeah. I want to have something that will pre-announce special events for casters. Uberdrop, backstabs, 3+ kills

I wouldn’t mind having to install a plugin of this kind If I had access to all these kinds of logs honesly. You could easily charge a premium for a plugin version with more information and a web interface and a free version with no information and less features. And of course make it available for free for any cast organizations.

Exactly what I was thinking…

Maybe an advance warning, like 10-15 secs in advance for streamers / casters only. I think all this information must be kept available for the streamers and casters at all times but only be available for specs on certain occasions, like end of the round or something like that, otherwise it takes a bit of the excitement off the game like I mentioned even about the tf.tv outline plugin.

(About the airshot detection, I thought there was an event ingame like tf_airborne_projectile or something like that , that can detect airshots, isn’t that way how the strange part for airborne kills work? Altough it count’s any height as an airshot so you could only be jumping and if you get hit by a direct rocket it counts as an airshots, but it’s still better than nothing.)

Good point, I’ll check that out.

problem with airborne projectile, as far as I know, it also counts if you jump and are in the air, no matter how high. it should count everything, jumping, juggling and single airshots.

Do you intend to put the code or finished package up so one could host this service privately?

I usually put my stuff on Github. https://github.com/Arie I’m planning to do the same for this, but no promises ;)

There is no built-in event (can’t find it here http://wiki.alliedmods.net/Team_Fortress_2_Events) but you can manually check if a player is in the air when he takes damage.

If you’ve seen VTV’s cast of broder vs cc tonight, you’ve also seen the new streamer’s overlay: http://i.imgur.com/dIlkIhm.png
Here’s how it looks in stream https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EoBt2nMCys4&feature=youtu.be&t=9m55s

It can also show the damage so far for the current round.

Also added logging of dropped uber: http://i.imgur.com/K2rCLgZ.png

For now I’m satisfied with what the live logs do feature wise, at least for a first release people could try it. So I’ll be probaby be working on a way for people to use this without needing me ;)
Keep an eye on this thread for beta tester requests.

I saw the overlay on the cast today, let me just say, it looked simply fantastic, minimal, clean and very rich information wise, just like it should be, and was very pleased that it was shown only at the end of every round… Just like it should be.

Just keep it like that, showing the info only at the end of every round or on stale situations so we can see who is on the upper hand, or otherwise after mids so we can see who did well and bad each mid.

Other than that it looked amazing, definitely superior to tf.tv cast quality wise. Just merge the best of both worlds now, get blue plugin and the stats plugin, combine tf.tv and vanilla casters and baby, you got a stew going! :D
