hmm, which are the criteria that need to be fulfilled to guarantee a premier division-thingie?
I have just asked enemydown / ukesa for clarification on what is needed for 2nd and 6th deadlines
ok response from “smellymoss” over at enemydown.eu
“full team and payed with a UK manager by 2nd to count towards the Prem tally.
Everything must be completed by 6th to be eligible to play”
everything = above uk manager and fees paid plus
full roster – ie minimum of 6
completed guid for each member
guid’s take 3 days to clear so we need to be getting our skates on with everything
It sounds to me as though of those 30 teams, at the very least 20 of those would simply be there to fund the top prize winners – that is why, of the people backing this Championship tourney, it is TCM, wotr, Ubersexuals and /v
See, you guys are eager to do this as you have a good chance of winning, not many others do ;)
The rest of us can enjoy the open competition :)
Comments like that actually offend me. Who the fuck are you? Do you know anything about me? I used to run a D3 clan that would’ve had zero chance of obtaining any prize money, yet I still would’ve been promoting UKeSA as heavily as I am because, and how many times do I need to say this, it is the biggest chance TF2 will ever get to become a top eSport.
As it happens, if TF2 reaches Premiership, I’ll be retiring from TF2 because I don’t want any involvement with monetary gaming. But, still, yes, I see your point – I am DESPERATELY trying to fund my own retirement. Oh, wait, that makes no sense?
Get your fucking head out of your arse and have a bit more respect for the people in this community that are desperately doing everything they can to try and improve the state of the game.
Oh, and btw, we can’t get away with the multiple-manager thing in Championship. Everything will be verified by UKeSA.
We could really do with unclanned or inactive UK players to become managers for us.
Yeah and who the fuck are you? Do I care? No, I am sharing my opinion and you obviously cannot handle that as it doesnt agree with your own sensibilities, but carry on sir, this forum needs entertainment :)
Your opinion is nothing short of fail. Presumption is the mother of all fuck ups and boy did you fuck it up.
I’m up for “managing” any team that needs one. Steam = wmaciver
Oh look at you with your cliches, aww :)
I have led a team before too, and they would have had absolutely no chance of doing well in a competition such as this – would I have signed them up just to get destroyed every week for the sake of the better teams out there to gain from the extra sign up? Most definately not. I am in multiple leagues for tf2, I have 1-2 pcws 5-6 nights a week and thus I need little extra insentive to play this game.
You state that you have no inclination towards montetary rewards and yet you hammer on about “top e-Sport” etc when there are already many, many leagues to be a part of that all host highly skilled teams. You, being in a div1 team should enjoy where the game is currently at – what is your major gripe? That you struggle for pcws against evenly skilled clans and you want more top teams to enter the scene to give you a run for your money ( pun totally intended)? Then say this. Other people’s gripes is that they will join this championship division only to find out that other’s are having MUCH MORE fun at their expense.
You mention that lower teams will gain experience by playing in a higher division, but that is the purpose of practice clan wars and not what is sought after in a league. A league is supposed to be composed of evenly skilled teams of players that will have an even chance of winning – noone joins a higher division to get rolled 4/5 games w/o having a chance of pulling the win. In a practice war however, a game can be arranged against a higher team in order to pull off strats and test your team’s boundaries both in communications and deathmatching abilities. However, a team losing a league and placing bottom will not be able to say, “Oh but it was a real test to our team that we strove to improve” – no that will not suffice, the team will look bad as it has poor results, and its reputation will suffer.
So, I think it is obvious that you need your head surgically removed from your arse you elitist dick.
How, exactly, do you figure that I’m being elitist?
The reason I am “hammering on” about making TF2 a top eSport is because it fucking deserves it. It’s a fantastic spectator game that really needs coverage. People think competitive TF2 is the same game they see on public servers. No, not quite.
From my POV, the sole aim of getting TF2 in to the UKeSA Premiership tournament is to boost the community – primarily its numbers. It’s clear that we aren’t as big as the likes of CSS, not even CoD4 tbh, especially in terms of competitive squads. When TF2 gets more coverage, more people will see how fantastic a game it is and get involved with the community.
I can’t remember mentioning lower teams gaining experience? So I’m not sure what you’re talking about there.
I apologise for my awful temperament and my personal attacks, they were uncalled for, but seriously those of us that are trying to advertise UKeSA are doing it for the reasons I’ve mentioned. I don’t want money from gaming ffs, I don’t deserve it – the community and the game however DO deserve the coverage/status – I don’t think anyone disagrees with that.
tbh it is kinda annoying that people accuse people like dunc who are doing alot of good for this community of being selfish bastards. That’s what you were saying funkeh, that we “top teams” only want clans to join UKeSA so byte could get new shoes and Mick some more hairgel.
Believe it or not, people who play this game for money are an extreme minority, and quite frankly fooling themselves. After a 6months or more of no lans to look forward to etc, all the _real_ “i play for money” people have switched games already. Even us “elitist pricks” play this game because it is fun and enjoyable.
Most of the div1 players have also extensive gaming backgrounds and no how the typical scene works. Without publicity etc. the tf2 community would not grow anymore, it would slowly stagnate, wither and die, just like other great games before it.
So if you lack the ability to comprehend why the tf2 is going to benefit the most from UKeSA prems, I feel sad for you. Just stay away then, and don’t come pissing on other people’s efforts.
Some people just dont have the brain capacity to figure out that this is more than top teams + div 2/3 getting prize money.
It’s to present TF2 to an even bigger audience and show people that this game can be played at a competitive level. If TF2 makes Premier, the amount of recognition it will get will be huge.
Now stop being a fucktard and actually help the tf2 community strive you arrogant, mindless fucking idiots.*
It really cannot be put anymore bold than this.
*The following view is that of the poster and has no relation to ETF2L’s opinion.
I think it is quite apparent that I have no idea about how this will benefit the community, and thus I simply look at it as just another league.
At least I prompted some replies that informed people a bit more about the implications.
I guess my jealousy for you guys’ positions in the community came through a bit nay? :)
dunc, is it possible for a british member of 1 team to be a manager of another? if so, put my name forward.
