TF2 tournament @ The Reality VIII

@ Riemu, I don’t except anyone to be in this one for the money. It’s one of the few TF2 LANs there are and it’s only the first tournament with cashmoney from The Reality. It’s a way to get things rolling, to push the scene and get media attention to competitive play. Besides it should become big fun, and a great way for everyone that missed PCGS in this scene to meet each other and have a great time. :)
You have to start small before you can become big, imho.
Na, I totally know that.
I’m just saying that it might not be worth their while for the leading organisations in the TF2 scene (4Kings, Crack, TCM) to send their team.
And the travelcosts, combined with the high entry fee (TUP) might be abit much to take on without support.
For instance I wont drive 800 km to the LAN, even though it would be a great opportunity.
I guess we just need to hope that enough French/German/Belgium/Netherland Teams attend to boost the pot for the 2nd LAN ;)

Moose said that cc would attend if we did, so that’s already two of the big teams going. If we can get the top four teams there I’d be delighted :)

Would make The Reality even more great than it already is imo. Would be cool for the scene and the LAN itself to see some of the top teams and other non-dutch players attending this :)

I’ve been entertaining the thought of us going there if TCM, cc and ubers come. But I don’t know if we can get the support for it in that case either :x
And is Reality such a lan that gets “press time” which is what the MGO’s want in return for the lan support? Is cadred for example even going to mention the whole thing not to say anything of doing some reporting?

Since TR is not really hitting on the competitive side of eSports and does not offer large amount of cashprizes, it does not get a lot international media attention. On the other hand, with Moose and me being part of the Cadred staff, I am sure we can arrange full coverage of the LAN before and during the event, if enough teams turn up. :)

Man drop that evil 70’s layout!
Lately we have been working on translating the website and system(s) of The Reality to English. I can now present you with an initial version with a working member sign-up, clan creation, LAN subscription, information content, FAQ and floorplan in English. As you can see on DeNeusbeer’s post ccMoose managed to create an account and sign up for the LAN event without problems.
If you are interested in The Reality VIII you can now visit the website and check all information you want by clicking on the [flag]uk[/flag] English button on the left top corner.
At this point in time we have division 1 teams Team Coolermaster and Team Druidz confirmed to attend the LAN. Next to this Fakkelbrigade and Gathering of Tweakers are attending the LAN. Make sure you sign your team up as soon as possible!

General information
The Reality VIII will take place from 20-03-2009 til 22-03-2009 and has 700 seats. We will host a Team Fortress 2 tournament with a cash prizepot of 600 euro as well as hardware prizes. Next to TF2 their will be CoD, CS and several 1v1 tournaments with money and hardware prizes. The LAN is mainly focussed on Bring Your Own Computer, but for TF2 we are arranging Turn Up & Play seats.
Team Fortress 2 tournament
The ruleset of the TF2 tournament will ofcourse be up to date according to ETF2L standards (classlimits, rules and mappool). It will start with a group stage covering the biggest part of the Saturday and ends with an elimination bracket with the poule’s top teams. The (semi) finals will be played on the Sunday.
Turn Up & Play
We are making a TUP Arena for Team Fortress 2, with an amount of shared game pc’s reserved for players and teams participating in the TF2 tournament. We are selling two TUP tickets per PC to break down the costs and optimize playing time per player/team. This means you will have a PC for approximately 50% of the time at the LAN.
There will be spare pc’s and when there are no official matches teams can use the pc’s to play practice clan wars. Next to playing TF2 you are able to spectate other matches, attend activities, hang around in the relax area, or just have a good time with your friends and enemies! We have several public consoles and games free to use in our relax area to make sure nobody gets bored. On the event hall there will be a restaurant, sleeping hall and (snack)bar all within 100 meters of eachother.
Why should my team attend?
At this moment we have former Team Druidz, Team Coolermaster, Ubersexuals, Fakkelbrigade and Gathering of Tweakers confirmed to attend the LAN, while Crack Clan is getting their participation sorted out with their management. We have made a good start on our way to 10 participating TF2 teams for the LAN, but as you can see we are not quite there yet. The Reality is relatively easy to attend for international teams aswell, because of the TUP facility. The Team Fortress 2 LANs in the past have not had any TUP pc’s available, making The Reality the first accessibly LAN for many teams.
