Season 15 powered by BlackOut Gaming – Playoffs & Tie breakers

The main season of ETF2L Season 15 powered by BlackOut Gaming is now over. All that remains is what you have all been waiting for: The conclusion of Season 15 in the Premiership Playoffs. There are also some additional tie breaker matches. Please note that we only create tiebreaker matches for ties that are relevant for pro- or demotions of a team or further playoffs. If two or more teams are tied for the 3rd place (or the 1st place in a division where the top 2 get promoted), all of them will receive a bronze (respectively golden) pixel trophy.

Tie breakers

Premiership Division Playoff Tiebreaker:

European SOLAR vs European Revoluzion la metagame

Division 1 Promotion Tiebreaker:

European REVERTO vs European Politically correct pander

Division 4C Relegation Tiebreaker

Portugal Talent Goes By vs England 9 Men

Division 4E Promotion Tiebreaker

European sit down trader vs European Furaribi

Format

All tiebreaker and Premiership Playoff matches are played as best of 3 maps. Any map from the Season 15 map pool can be chosen. In the Premiership Playoffs, the team that finished higher on the table gets the first map pick. For the tiebreakers, teams can either agree on the first map or perform a Heavy Fist Fight to decide which team gets the right to select the first map. From the second map on, you have to use the Loser’s Pick system.

Schedule

All Tie breakers have to be played until July 27th. If your match is not scheduled by July 19th a default date will be set by an admin.

Special case: The deadline for European REVERTO vs European Politically correct pander is July 13th, because the loser will face Russia Last Man Standing in the Premiership relegation match. A default date for this tiebreaker will be set on July 5th, if necessary.

Premiership Division Playoffs

International All Tied Up has withdrawn from the Premiership Playoffs. This breaks up the three way tie and makes the whole situation a whole lot easier. Once European SOLAR and European Revoluzion la metagame have battled it out, the Premiership Playoffs can officially kick off.

Don’t forget what you are fighting for!

Playoff 1:

European SOLAR or European Revoluzion la metagame vs European Team Infused

Playoff 2:

Winner of Playoff 1 vs European broder

 Playoff 3:

Winner of Playoff 2 vs European Epsilon eSports

Premiership Division Playoff Schedule

  • Tiebreaker: June 30th – July 6th
  • Playoff 1: July 7th – July 13th
  • Playoff 2: July 14th – July 20th
  • Playoff 3: July 21st – July 27th

Default Dates will be set where necessary. Playing a match earlier than the schedule suggests, is, of course, allowed and encouraged. Due to the necessary tiebreaker match, the Grand Final might unfortunately clash with the group stages of the 6v6 and Highlander Nations Cups.

What is this system about? Map pick can be so crucial, having a heavy fist fight for it is ridiculous.

Ok let’s figure out which team gets the first pick:

We can give it to the team with the highest placement in their bracket! Oh wait they are equal and this is indeed a tie-breaker :(
What about the team with the most points? Oh wait.. :(
Ok, maybe we could try a coin toss? Nah, then it’s just random.. :(

Maybe Kaidus has a better alternative?

How about random map then loser pick, there are online dice roller apps and you could assign a number to each map.

Random map is better than letting either team have first pick if its even imo, otherwise make it the team with the most round wins or wins vs losses or something so 5-0 scores and rounds vs top teams will mean something.

Also that kind of close minded response is pretty shitty Spike, you shouldn’t be so defensive when someone suggests the current system is flawed. Invite them to present an alternative sure, but don’t just act like you’ve considered everything and this is the only option.

It’s not a close minded response, nor was I being defensive. I’m just taking the piss because Kaidus only ever complains and never really has any arguments or better ideas. It’s all in good fun.

I did ask if he perhaps had other ideas :)

Winner of heavy fist fight gets to eliminate 2 maps, loser eliminates 1 and has first pick of the 3 remaining maps.

Or determine seeds through head-to-head record, or like spin says just have a random map (aka badlands) as even that is better.
