Announcing Highlander Nations Cup #2!

Date June 18, 2013

Highlander Nations Cup #2

It is that time of the year again – time for the best players of each country to band together and prove their country is the best at Highlander!

The Cup will feature a Group Stage and a single-elimination Tournament, and will take place throughout July and August, with the finals to be played before i49. Each country will be represented by one team consisting out of players of the same nationality, led by a Captain chosen through the applications process. There will be a prize pool of €1000 contributed by an anonymous benefactor.

Team Captain Applications

Captain Applications are now open.

National teams are created and managed by Captains chosen out of submitted applications. Each Captain will pick the best possible roster from amongst their countrymen and lead their glorious squadron to victory. There are no restrictions on which players you can field in your team, so long as they are of your country’s nationality and are eligible to play in ETF2L.

To apply, send an email to [email protected], explaining why you should be your country’s captain and describe your planned national roster. Applicants who have experience leading successful ETF2L teams and a good reputation in the scene will be given priority. This should be self explaining but you should include at least your nickname and your ETF2L profile link in the application letter.

Captain Applications will close on Friday, 28th of June at 23:59 CEST. Only approved Captains and their National Teams will be added to the competition.

Hoorah! Is there anyone set to particularly cast the cup, or is it up to the casting organisations as they choose?

It’s always up to the casting organisations. We will publicize any available casts for NC matches so long as we’re aware of them.

Ditch barnblitz, it’s incredibly boring to play and watch, only 1% of the 9v9 community prefers it over any of the available maps to use in highlander and it’s basically decided on by who gets lucky on pushing last first

    @ Oxy

As you might have noticed, there is a larger map pool in this Nations Cup #2 than there were in Season 4. That’s why there are additional maps included.

Please remember to include your nickname and ETF2L profile link in the application. We can not give you captaincy, if we do not know who you are.

So it was! Didn’t even remember playing gpit last season haha

Does this mean that the best players in every country will be spammed by +/- 15 ‘captains’ asking whether they want to be in their roster? Since they have to send in a roster with the application…

  18. sno: UbeR | - itsallgood said:

So the current national highlander teams have to be wiped so etf2l can approve of a new captain, or can they stay the way they are?

  19. THE_WILLY said:

There should not be any prize pool, it is a nations cup, you’re representing your country, you shouldn’t be doing it for the money…

^ Tell that to FIFA :D
