AFS league starting: Divisions, Map list, Schedule and more

The official ETF2L summer league has officially started. 288 teams will compete in 7 weeks of sunny slaughter to decide who will top their division. If you haven’t done so already make sure you take a look at the season tables. We wish every participant the best of luck!

Fixed map schedule:

  • Week 1: Obscure_final – Badlands
  • Week 2: Obscure_final – Gravelpit
  • Week 3: Freight_final1 – Gravelpit
  • Week 4: Freight_final1 – Granary
  • Week 5: Coldfront_rc3 – Badlands
  • Week 6: Coldfront_rc3 – Gullywash
  • Week 7: Gullywash – Granary

Schedule

Like previous seasons you will have 2 weeks to play a certain match. That means that next week you can play your week 1 match while at the same time you are able to schedule your week 2 match for that week.
Additionally every team will once again get 2 wildcards they can use.

Week 1 has just started and it’s schedule deadline will be Sunday 20th June 23:59 CET, make sure you have your match scheduled by then or a default date will be assigned. The week 1 match deadline will be the week after that on Sunday 27th June. Week 2 will start next week and it’s schedule deadline will be Sunday 27th June. Further dates can be found on the AFS Fixture Page.

Important rule updates and reminders

The biggest rule improvement this season is the new point system. You will still get 3 points for a win and 0 points for a loss, however in the case of a draw teams will now get to play a decider round, the winner of that round will receive 2 points while the losing team will still receive 1 point.
On 5cp maps the team who scores one round first will take the decider round, however if neither team has won a round after 10 minutes then the team that is holding the middle point after the 10 minutes wins.
If there is a draw on a/d maps like gravelpit then there will also be a decider round. The team that set the best time when they attacked first will get to decide who will defend first in that decider round. (explanation)

As the new community weapons are distributed trough the random drop system it becomes increasingly harder to adopt a satisfying policy that ensures all player have equal access to every weapon. In that light ETF2L will choose a different, more conservative, approach towards unlocks this summer season. All random drop weapons and weapons that are not undoubtedly an improvement to the gameplay in general will be banned. The medic, demo and utility class achievement weapons are all allowed, while the scouts FaN and sandman and the soldiers TDH and buffbanner will be banned. All random drop weapons are banned. Players who were hoping to crush their opponents with their homewrecker in a highlander match shouldn’t worry, all weapons will be allowed in the upcoming highlander community challenge.

We would also like to remind everyone that any agreements about mercs and servers should be added to the match comments of the match in question. Don’t forget it!

Season 7 Awards

The summer season might be starting but it is also time to look back and hand out the pixel cups for the Player and Team Of The 7th Season Awards. A huge thanks to everyone who voted and our congratulations to the winners.

  • Player Of The Season – Germany Zerox (TCM-Gaming)
  • Team Of The Season – European I Don’t Know?
  • Be sure to take a look at the brand new Award History page where you can find out German superstar Zerox is now tied for the lead in most awards along with Swedish legend Bybben.

    Bball Fun Cup

Yes you have read it correctly. At last it is time for a proper game of tf2 basketball. For those of you not familiar to the concept of bball: It is a gamemode (map) where 2 teams of 2 soldiers try to rocket jump the intelligence to each others basket. Make sure you find a friend for your 2on2 team (create one here) and be ready when the signups open.

    Details:

    • Signups open: Wednesday, 23th June, 20:00 CET
    • Signups close: Sunday, 27th June, 20:00 CET
    • Map: ctf_bball2
    • Slots: 128
    • Unlocks: Only standard soldier weapons

    Banhammer

Unfortunately we also have to announce a ban; Due to attacking the forum with several spambots Germany daNNN will receive a 6 month ban from ETF2L.

poor decision regarding unlocks, if the summer league was about trying new things? all your doing is keeping the status quo.

I assume i both teams agree we can use whatever we like still?

    19. RaCio: GoT² said:

sure, as long as both teams agree

      to the rule:
“On 5cp maps the team who scores one round first will take the decider round, however if neither team has won a round after 10 minutes then the team that is holding the middle point after the 10 minutes wins.”

thats just winlimit 1, timelimit 10, right?
      I dont like this idea

because the team with more cps dont need to push then, they can just wait

lets say, your team is defending (2 or 1 cp left) doesnt really matter which map,
then the opposite team could turtle with heavies and engies,
just to make sure they win, which will happen most of the times,
because its quite difficult to push against a stalemate situation, when you have the disadvantage of spawntimes
so it gets boring and slow which both isnt good imo

I suggest to play 15 mins and let then the team win with most points if there was no winning round

the 5 more mins forces the team with more cps to push because after 10 mins without capping a point both teams gets a new chance for a middle fight (stalemate) as you know
and these 5 mins are not really much longer

it hardly makes a difference if you play 40 or 45 mins, but the boring and slow part will most likely not happen
and I doubt that a 3rd round on gpit doesnt take shorter than 15 mins in th emost times

    22. Netsky said:

good call there cheee, we might reconsider it. Thanks for your thought.

    23. Keyro: Cheater said:

Good idead in someway but 45 per map is too much (as is 40mn btw).
To avoid team holding mid without pushing 10 mn long just give the bonus point if a team cap the 5 points. In GC if 0-0 and a team turtling the mid = 0 bonus point.

Good news overall but first time i disagree with etf2l about the unlocks rules. Don’t Understant the logic of banning the Buff banner wich i must have seen 2-3 times in 6 mont of pcw and wich wasn’t a problem. Same for the FAN it has been nerfed enough and is not anymore “annoying” for oppenents, just had some features to the game :/

What time do the bball fun cup matches be played at, would it in the evening or whatever time is agreed?

    26. RaCio: GoT² said:

You will need to agree on a time with your opponent or else a default date will be set (usually sunday).

    27. Joshhh: ez - LEGO said:

      ok thanks RaCio

Good Job with the map fixtures for the AFS and the scheduling extensions.
Btw, if you hand out the Season 7 Awards now, when are you finally gonna conclude the Season 7 itself? I still don´t see a golden cup on my team´s page saying “1st Div5h Season7” -.-

    29. RaCio: GoT² said:

There is a technical problem with adding those, we’ll try to get them added shortly.

Disapppointing to see coldfront got chosen instead of viaduct, I’d like to know the reasoning behind that decision.

In a season that promoted innovation it would’ve been a logical choice.

nice to see a bball cup.
      what about the highlander cups?

    37. hänsen: Team Popo! said:

Dont you want to make a cfg with this advanced settings?

    38. RareSpycrab said:

For bball its just the normal config with mp_windifference 0 and mp_winlimit 15? 20? right

Whats the cap limit for the bballl cup?

    41. broesel: LAME said:

      So, what’s with cp_gullywash_imp3 now?

It’s not like the whole map has changed, there are mostly bugfixes in it and some small layout changes / new paths. Teams wouldn’t have to relearn all their strategies for Gullywash, so where’s the point in not having it in AFS instead of the ‘old’ Gullywash?
