Not div3, not div1/2, somewhere inbetween. Tends to come across as a stupid whiny cunt on the forums but is a nice guy both irl and online when you’re actually speaking to him. Has improved a lot in the relatively short time he’s taken the game “seriously”, will continue to improve if he gets a decent scout partner that can knock at least an iota of gamesense into him.

Well, guy is asking for a chance, I believe d2+ teams are aware of the risk, but also of possibility he can be a very valuable asset.
But ‘trolling’ or otherwise, this rec thread just shows you gather much attention from players, that are known to be trolling themselves. As long as you will keep it alive, you ain’t gonna be taken for serious either.

I wasn’t trolling or anything like that Racio, I gave my honest opinion about the guy and he’s attitude to people.

Based around my experiences of playing at the top div 3 / low div 2 bracket for a long time (I find it a tedious experience that doesnt engage me the same way as playing at a higher level does). Various mixes against higher level scouts, i41 lan playing against a top div 1 team many times to only lose the final down to a GC after winning a map. My previous experiences with online gaming, watching demo’s of other scouts, the fact that when i put my mind to something i know i can achieve my goal. I could probs name more.
Which top div1 team did you play against @ i41 if I may ask?
TwistedPlay, and while you claim that they’re division 2, it seems like every other person completely disagrees with you (and their screenshots seem to back them up).
As already mentioned TwistedPlay who are most certainly a top div 1 team now, however some may argue the were only of a low – mid div 1 standard at i41, i however would prefer to think that they are playing better than normal due to the prospect of winning over a grand in cash prizes.
I wonder why do you guys rage so much over a guy that certainly means less than an everyday dump you take to you.
Just wish him good luck, if he ain’t capable of playing in higher divisions, he will be remembered for that, certainly not for your obnoxious posts.
I dont know why everyone cares so much. But at the same time i wonder, if you are really div1/2 which you claim, where is everyone in this thread who agrees with you on that?
A ‘hi’ in your recruitment post wont prove that. Your history wont do either. I cant recall you as a div1/2 scout either although i played vs all div1/2 and top div3 teams. And i think many will feel the same. So you might want to alter your ambitions if you dont want to be the 10th choice on everybodies list.
Also in your last team, nvc and topgear really have div1/2 experience. If we really believe that you (and arcadizzle) are div1/2, you wouldnt have struggled in div3 at all.

matt i dont think tplay at lan counts for shit, considering josh kept us up 3 nights in a row and half the team was heavily sedated at the time of the final.
tbh i haven’t played with you in ages but back in strike a pose, you had decent enough aim but your game sense was fucking atrocious lets be honest :p
despite popular opinion probably would manage div2 but really does need a team with discipline.
So was I Arcy, hardly a valid excuse.
As I have already mentioned, at the top div 3 / low div 2 level I do not have to think about / apply game sense to my game, I want to play at top div 2 / low div 1 in order to have to apply that to my game.
At the end of the day I would do more than just “manage” in div 2, thank you anyway though Arcy.

Lame excuse mate, expected a better one. Learn to take criticism and get rid of your ego, maybe than you’ll improve a bit and THAN you’ll MAYBE get to div2.
I have already got to div 2 (Well depending on the promotion system, but im assuming 6 teams leaving div 2 6 teams being promoted from div 3)

After reading like everything in here the only thing I noticed was that you’re skipping from high div 3/low div 2 (being promoted into div 2 is about that imo) to high div 2? Not insulting you or anything but that makes my mind derp a bit. Explain maybe?
High div 2 realistically, div 1 in an ideal world. High div 2 / div 1 is where imo the game starts changing.

I’m not certain on what level you’re at right now – as we haven’t played in yonks.
But being able to go from div6 -> div3 and from there to div2/1 isn’t difficult. All it takes is dedication and pretty much a few weeks – which is probably what’s happened, if you’re certain.
I think you guys need to realise the skill level he sets himself isn’t one to offend you or make you mad at, its the skill he wishes to play at – the level he wants to compete at.
Of course people may come along and say “Not x y z” but that’s their opinion – and I think arguing over it isn’t necessary.
I also don’t think trawling through a persons history is a very valid form of backing up your argument – considering history can mean fuck all. Progression as an individual player wont necessarily be shown within team screenshots.

The level I am on has probably deteriorated over christmas and new year because i have not played during that period, however it will come back once I start to play again.
As you have said it is the level that I wish to play at and believe that when i have been playing again i can indeed play.

Before I start with this spiel, I want people to know I don’t know Matt very well at all. What puzzles me is why anyone would want to waste their time writing unconstructive feedback to someones post. The guy clearly cares about succeeding in this game and this is something that should be encouraged. This approach to the game can only be a good thing and help to build a stronger community for a game that people that visit this website love (bit strong, maybe?). I am sure people who trial this guy can make their own minds up about whether he is up to the challenge. But from my experience, there isn’t enough players available as the higher echelons of competitive play as it is. Good luck.
it’s not difficult to jump from div6 > div2 if you have the skill, people should stop looking at it that way really.

the jump from div3 to 2 might be nothing but from 2/1 is completely different there are no top div2 teams that are really div1 material.
just to add to what poxie said, u need a certain attitude to progress including a high level of arrogance…

Writing ‘Hi.’ as the main body of your recruitment thread is what comes across as arrogant to me, not the skill level. I’ve played against teams with decent scouts and both of the scouts in our team have done fine despite maybe being branded lower than that.
If you’d just written half the things you’ve written in comments, about how you really want to improve and feel you can quickly with the right leadership and scout partner I reckon there would have been a lot less of a bad reaction to this.
You DO have something to prove since you haven’t already proven yourself to be consistent at this level. I mean by playing a season of ETF2L there. Writing ‘Hi.’ just looks like you think there will be loads of high level teams fighting to get you to join and you don’t even need to make any effort for that to happen.

There is also the fact that you mentioned yourself (if I’m not making a mistake here) regarding your game-sense. If its not there, wouldn’t you be pulling your team down?
They basically have to provide a scout partner that is willing to babysit you, give you constant guidance for the whole season, deal with your arrogance (if there is any) or anger (calling everyone, who comments on your recruitment thread “div 4/5 shitters” kinda says it, even tho Racio deleted that post). Teams that are at the level you are willing to play do not have time for that, they would rather take an experienced scout.
I don’t mind the sudden skill jump, but this isn’t the case mate, as I see no proper div 2/div1 players commenting on your skill or saying you are ready for the level you say you are. You don’t just become good by saying that you are bored to play at the level you are now, otherwise we would all be in the premium div.
@ Racio, sorry, but if you can’t be arced reading what other people say, and seeing a difference between spam and a comment is a bit too much for you, you should leave the managing of this section to other admins, like Buffalo Bill (who’s post you’ve deleted as well for some reason). My post might qualify as spam / nonsense, even tho there were similar posts left and mine got trashed somehow, but there were valid posts amongst those you had to send into oblivion.
What i said regarding game sense is that i only have to apply it when im playing at a higher level, not that i dont have it, im sure that i should apply it at a lower level aswell, however i find more fun to run around chasing kills, something i am aware you can not do at a higher level and i do not do at a higher level. Hence why i want to play at that level to improve my game.
As for the nonsense posts before it got cleared, they were just that, nonsense, i was bored at work *shrug* was entertaining for awhile.
I would require a scout to provide the experience not to carry me.
If you do not want to believe that i can play at that level, that is fine, i believe i can and having played against div 1 scouts believe that my aim would not let me down and would just need the lead scout to follow.
Imo you dont get anywhere in live by cruising at a level you are happy at, you challenge yourself against better players in order to progress.
And alot of TF2 is not what you know but who you know.

By ‘babysit’ I meant ‘to give constant guidance’, not ‘carry someone’. Which is more tedious than carrying I think.
Comparing life and a cartoony computer game is not the best way to prove a point. Nevertheless, you are quite correct at that part of your post. Its just that jumping to the level you have little experience at you are going to make little impact and drag the team down. I guess it all comes down to either believing you are good and can handle it, or not. I, for example, do not. No doubt there are other people out there, who might not share my opinion.
So basically, you wish to tell me, that I could be shit, but if I am good friends with dignitas players, its all good, meaning I can create a prem recruitment topic? Explain yourself. Furthermore, it doesn’t seem that you know a lot of people who would be willing to comment on your skill.
Well, from what I can see, only RetShock and .panic have some sort of a personal grudge against you, the others were just expressing their opinion. Also, you tried to insult RetShock, so I would guess you have some sort of personal hatred connection with him.
Chasing frags at div 3 is perfectly valid and you dont get 20 deaths per game, well i never have. It is not the most effect way to play by any stretch of the imagination but also quite fun.
I still dont really understand the whole issue with the skill anyway, it says div 2/1, not prem, TF2 after top div 3 has little difference in skill just in the way the game is played, ie lots more tactics and teamwork.

No what i mean by its who you know is the fact that if you know people in the upper divs when you first start you are alot more like to rise the divs.

I hope you take this as constructive criticism. You just had the perfect chance to shame all the nay sayers by getting promoted to div 1 wireplay with aNimus, the team you were on about 30 minutes ago. Although, for some reason you didn’t show up to the OFFICIAL and we had to FORFEIT. If you ask me that alone means you can’t handle div 2/1. Commitment means something and as you’ve said multiple times in this thread “If I put my mind to it blah blah” seems like a load of crap, didn’t even put enough effort to make it to the official. Why were you making posts here when you had playoffs? It’s idiotic if you ask me. I’m glad you put more effort into your recruitment thread than you did your team because at least now you’ll be able to search for a team more freely. Good luck.

Personal recruitment posts are not meant for ideological debates about skill levels. Do not comment unless you have something useful to add (e.g. you know said person or have been in a team with him).
Other then the horror of somebody actually succeeding in a trial there is no way a personal recruitment post should bother you.

i do agree with that but,
you can’t just come and say hi i was playing in div 3 up until now only a few matches and it’s boring so i want to be prem div now so i can get more challenge. no body knows me tho i can say i’m div2/3. 1st get people to know you and say their opinions about you based on their experience with you.
seriously you should think about reopening a recruitment and search for a div 3(/2) team because no team will take you seriously now from this recruit and you should play with a team for a whole season (9) in div 3/2 and then you can get the most honest opinion from the teams playing against you and your own team.
until then,
you’re not worth anything for any div 2 mid-top/div1 team.
