ETF2L Radio – idk? vs TLR – Week 3

Date July 21, 2010

After TLR’s display versus Dignitas, some would say it’s an outrage to count this wild german clan out (minus viqun and havok :D). However with the maps in hand, this match will be a close and fought one.

With idk? suffering at the moment due to various members on vacation, will the german soldier duo manage to out play the grenade infested extreme of the R? Or will idk? go back to basics and win via their dominant team play shown in season 7?

Well there’s only one way to find out! Join us tonight for a etf2l.radio cast for the game idk? vs TLR.

Co-hosting with me (Byte) tonight will be the notorious and overrated Pledge.

ETF2L Radio – Team Dignitas vs Broder – Week 2

Date June 30, 2010

Welcome one, welcome all – ETF2L Radio is back for the first cast of many for this Summer Season! Coming up tonight will be a great match to get us back into the swing of things, with two of the most exciting teams around looking to pick up an early run of form and carry them to AFS victory!

With the upcoming Summer Assembly LAN which both Dignitas and Broder are attending, it will be interesting to see how the two teams square up online. Whilst many would say Dignitas are the stronger of the two sides, Broder’s rapid rise to the top through hard work and with a plethora of experienced players means anything can happen. Dignitas recently suffered a surprising loss against newcomers k1ck when playing on Obscure, so Broder will definitely be looking to pick up points there, whilst the second map Gravel Pit will really test the teamwork of both sides, who have both had recent roster shuffles.

Co-hosting with me tonight will be Scottish scumbag Swarley, whilst making his ETF2L Radio debut will be none other than Head of TF2 at Cadred and general lazy potato picker James ‘Admirable‘ McDonnell!

What will tonight's result be?

The signup phase is over and the first 128 teams have been added to the cup. Be sure to check out the seedings and cup tree here: [link].

Details:

  • Schedule deadline for the First round: Sunday 4th July 23:59 CET
  • Match deadline For the First round: Sunday 11th July 23:59 CET
  • Schedule deadline For the Second round: Sunday 18th July 23:59 CET
  • Timelimit 30 (default)
  • Winlimit 25
  • Windifference 0 (disabled)
  • No unlocks: Standard soldier weapons only

The first team to make 25 captures or the team that has the most captures when the time runs out will be the winner. Be sure to disable mp_windifference before you start your game and maintain or add a winlimit of 25 captures.

Additionally the map which should be used will be changed to ctf_ballin (screenshot). This version is aside from some visual upgrades very similar to ctf_bball2 but features the much requested feature of pass-through backboards. With that change, it will not be possible anymore to spam the cap point. Make sure you download the map (here) and get it running on your server.

Summer league update: week 2/3 starting

The summer league is well underway and next week will be the last week to play your week 2 matches. Be sure to start scheduling your week 3 matches and enter the date on your matches page or a default date will have to be set.

Gullywash update:
The popular custom map cp_gullywash which is due to be played in the weeks 6 and 7 received an update from it’s creator Belgium Arnold. The new version(cp_gullywash_imp3) includes many bugfixes and brings some balance updates as well. You can take a look at screenshots of the new version in the thread on our forum. This updated version should be used in the upcoming league matches and can be downloaded here: [link].

Rule reminder:
Last of all we would like to remind everyone about the weapon rules that should be followed in all AFS matches. Remember all random drop weapons and some achievement weapons are banned. You can find the full list at the rule page: [link].

AFS league starting: Divisions, Map list, Schedule and more

The official ETF2L summer league has officially started. 288 teams will compete in 7 weeks of sunny slaughter to decide who will top their division. If you haven’t done so already make sure you take a look at the season tables. We wish every participant the best of luck!

Fixed map schedule:

  • Week 1: Obscure_final – Badlands
  • Week 2: Obscure_final – Gravelpit
  • Week 3: Freight_final1 – Gravelpit
  • Week 4: Freight_final1 – Granary
  • Week 5: Coldfront_rc3 – Badlands
  • Week 6: Coldfront_rc3 – Gullywash
  • Week 7: Gullywash – Granary

Schedule

Like previous seasons you will have 2 weeks to play a certain match. That means that next week you can play your week 1 match while at the same time you are able to schedule your week 2 match for that week.
Additionally every team will once again get 2 wildcards they can use.

Week 1 has just started and it’s schedule deadline will be Sunday 20th June 23:59 CET, make sure you have your match scheduled by then or a default date will be assigned. The week 1 match deadline will be the week after that on Sunday 27th June. Week 2 will start next week and it’s schedule deadline will be Sunday 27th June. Further dates can be found on the AFS Fixture Page.

Important rule updates and reminders

The biggest rule improvement this season is the new point system. You will still get 3 points for a win and 0 points for a loss, however in the case of a draw teams will now get to play a decider round, the winner of that round will receive 2 points while the losing team will still receive 1 point.
On 5cp maps the team who scores one round first will take the decider round, however if neither team has won a round after 10 minutes then the team that is holding the middle point after the 10 minutes wins.
If there is a draw on a/d maps like gravelpit then there will also be a decider round. The team that set the best time when they attacked first will get to decide who will defend first in that decider round. (explanation)

As the new community weapons are distributed trough the random drop system it becomes increasingly harder to adopt a satisfying policy that ensures all player have equal access to every weapon. In that light ETF2L will choose a different, more conservative, approach towards unlocks this summer season. All random drop weapons and weapons that are not undoubtedly an improvement to the gameplay in general will be banned. The medic, demo and utility class achievement weapons are all allowed, while the scouts FaN and sandman and the soldiers TDH and buffbanner will be banned. All random drop weapons are banned. Players who were hoping to crush their opponents with their homewrecker in a highlander match shouldn’t worry, all weapons will be allowed in the upcoming highlander community challenge.

We would also like to remind everyone that any agreements about mercs and servers should be added to the match comments of the match in question. Don’t forget it!

Season 7 Awards

The summer season might be starting but it is also time to look back and hand out the pixel cups for the Player and Team Of The 7th Season Awards. A huge thanks to everyone who voted and our congratulations to the winners.

  • Player Of The Season – Germany Zerox (TCM-Gaming)
  • Team Of The Season – European I Don’t Know?
  • Be sure to take a look at the brand new Award History page where you can find out German superstar Zerox is now tied for the lead in most awards along with Swedish legend Bybben.

    Bball Fun Cup

Yes you have read it correctly. At last it is time for a proper game of tf2 basketball. For those of you not familiar to the concept of bball: It is a gamemode (map) where 2 teams of 2 soldiers try to rocket jump the intelligence to each others basket. Make sure you find a friend for your 2on2 team (create one here) and be ready when the signups open.

    Details:

    • Signups open: Wednesday, 23th June, 20:00 CET
    • Signups close: Sunday, 27th June, 20:00 CET
    • Map: ctf_bball2
    • Slots: 128
    • Unlocks: Only standard soldier weapons

    Banhammer

Unfortunately we also have to announce a ban; Due to attacking the forum with several spambots Germany daNNN will receive a 6 month ban from ETF2L.

    ETF2L World Cup Predictions League

    ETF2L World Cup Predictions Game

After Swarley bugged me about it for weeks, I’ve decided to run a predictions competition during the World Cup 2010.

It’s a pretty simple competition and you can enter it at any time, but obviously if you were to start your predictions from today you will have the chance to win more points as you will be able to predict the results of more matches.

**ALL** Predictions should be entered into this forum thread!

    How does it work?

Each day, you will be able to predict the scores for that day’s world cup matches. You simply hit reply on the forum thread, type in your predictions and you’re done :) All predictions must be received one hour before the start of the day’s world cup matches, otherwise they will not be counted.

    How do I earn points?

The points system is very simple:
    Correct score – 3 points
    Correct result – 1 point

As an example, if I predict France v Uruguay 2-0, and the score is 3-1 to France, I get 1 point. If the score had finished 2-0, I would have received 3 points.

There are also 5 bonus point competitions which are only open until 15CET on 11th June:

    1) Top Goalscorer in the World Cup

    2) Total Goals in the World Cup

    3) First Red Card

    4) Player of the Tournament

    5) First Hat-Trick

Guessing any of the 5 bonus point competitions correctly will earn you a 10 point bonus to your score at the end of the month.

    Can I win anything?

There will be a small mystery prize for the winner on behalf of myself :] The most satisfaction you’ll get though, is being able to gloat over everyone else in ETF2L.

Good luck to everyone, your predictions start…..now!

**ALL** Predictions should be entered into this forum thread!

P.S. If you like Fantasy Football games and choosing your own players, Dougie is organising a Fantasy Football competition here.
