Two playoff matches tonight

Tonight we have two Highlander playoff games happening at once – the last match of Secondary Playoffs semi-finals alongside the first match of the Premiership playoffs.

To begin with we have the semi-final of the secondary playoffs between  Legolas’ Wrath and Colony followed by the semi-final of the main Premiership playoffs featuring 2nd place  May Contain Nuts against  Parrot Gapers for a place in the grand final against  SNSD and a chance to win 1000 euros!

The first match tonight is already live, Colony v Legolas’ Wrath playing a best of three (one round per each Attack / Defend map) on Lakeside, Upward and Badwater as a potential decider.

Premiership Playoffs: May Contain Nuts vs Parrot Gapers

The main event is due to kick off at 20:45 CET as May Contain Nuts look to book yet another encounter with SNSD and a chance to finally displace the undefeated champions of European Highlander. Standing in their way is the multi-talented Parrot Gapers, who may get the edge with the likes of Cookye playing on their side as they face off on Badwater, Upward and Gravelpit as a potential decider.

Provisional Divisions

Yes folks! It’s that time already. Whip out your monocles, magnifying glasses and fine-tooth combs and peruse the Provisional Divisions for ETF2L Season 14 powered by Twitch.  As the provisional tag suggests, these divisions may be subject to change between now and Monday.

If you are not happy with the division that your team has been placed in, please contact an admin in IRC as soon as possible. Keep in mind that much like during the signup process, you must provide evidence of your ability to perform at the level of the division you wish to enter. This means, at minimum, a screenshot album displaying performance of your team against other similar-skilled teams. These pictures can be taken from PCWs, scrims, cups, other leagues and so on.

The divisions will be finalized and divided into groups on Sunday night.

Premiership Qualifiers

By now you will have given in to the urge to look at the Provisional Divisions. There’s no shame in it. You are only human.  The superhuman amongst you may have noticed that everything is not settled in the Premier Division and Division 1. You should probably consider joining the rest of the superhumans on the ETF2L Admin Staff, but first allow me to elucidate.

Two spots were originally up for grabs in the Premier Division.  The first went to broder but the recipient of the second was not so clear cut.  So in the interests of fairness and bloody entertainment we will be pitting four Premiership hopefuls against each other in a Single Elimination best-of-three tournament taking place on Monday 14th January from 20:00CET onwards.

Overview

BBall has a long history and it should be familiar to most of us. However since it has been a very long time since teams officially hit the court let me briefly remind you what this is all about. We have 2 Teams consisting of 2 Soldiers each facing each other on a Basketball court. The goal is, like in real basketball, to score points by getting the ball through the basketball hoop. Now as this is serious business, we don’t have, no, we don’t need a ball – we prefer to play with precious documents in a briefcase. If you are completely new to the subject and need further information, feel free take a look at the corresponding TF2 Wiki Page.

Setup

For the moment being, we will allow 192 teams to sign up, which will be seeded into 32 groups of 6 teams each. The first 2 teams of each group will advance to the playoff tree. However, if we notice an even bigger interest in this tournament, we might add more slots!

Processing results

Group stage:
This phase should be pretty straight forward. Like in the regular season, you play your map and submit the result (no golden cap, draws are possible). A correctly entered result is 3-0, 0-3 or 1-1.

Playoff stage:
Now we come to the “tricky” part. Since we are now in the elimination phase each map / round needs a winner. This means, if both teams are tied when the map timer reaches zero you will have to play another “best of 5 caps” golden cap round to determine the winner for this map.
While entering the result please upload the tied & additional screenshot of that round.

General schedule

• Sign ups are open NOW until January 16, head over to the competition page to enter the cup with your 2on2 team!

There will be no enforced weekly schedule for your games in the group phase, just make sure you have played all matches and entered the respective results before the group phase deadline! However we have added Default dates for your convenience, if you can’t play that day post it on the match page and try rescheduling.  During the group phase, unplayed matches will get a null result, while the almighty coin flip will decide for the playoff tree.

ETF2L 6th Cup Round of 16 – Quarantine vs Team Doctrinal

While most of you are finding it difficult to get out of the ‘christmas period’ over at VanillaTV it’s back to reality. After a long well deserved break, by all the staff we’re looking forward to the upcoming ETF2L Season 14 powered by Twitch. Should be a very exciting time for EU TF2, mainly with the injection of five new unlocks brought into the game. The variation and meta being changed because of this will lead to far more interesting plays for our casters to commentate on.

With this to look forward too, we still have the ETF2L 6th cup best of 3 rounds to look forward too! With five premiership teams in the mix and fighting for €300, them being:

 Quarantine vs  Team Doctrinal

Team Doctrinal have had a couple of new players added to their roster: The ever so famous CUBE for making his PREM fragvideo (you know you want to click on it to enjoy the well synced music ;) despite listening to it over 10 times), and also Stark’s partner in crime from the England’s National TF2 team, Greg.
Question is, will these two fine and highly talented individuals manage to spark what they showed the TF2 world in the nations cup, or will it be a flop. On a side note,   Hys has been seen merc’ing for them, and rumours have it that he may join, Doctrinal really don’t have a choice though unfortunately with what’s on the TF2 demoman meat market, Hys is definitely the best available at the moment.

Quarantine have been under the radar so to speak with one of the few premiership teams yet to really rev up the ‘practice’ engine. I wonder if they have been practicing behind the scenes, or are they that confident in their ability to smash Team Doctrinal. Or they could be using this cup as a buffer to warm up for Season 14, who knows but I can tell that a certain good looking smoothy (with shades on) Dr Leon, is now in their team. Looking to revitalize his love for TF2 and playing with those new unlocks.

ETF2L 6th Cup Round of 16 – Trick 17 Black vs Lutuset

This match is happening at the same time as the match above. The Germans of  Trick 17 Black are surely the underdogs in this matchup against Division 1 team Lutuset but there will be a cast in German nonetheless.
