Time for hype! – ETF2L Season 14 powered by Twitch GRAND FINALE!

Date April 4, 2013

Interested in what is coming in Season 15? Check this out – comment on this post with a prediction for the number of frags of the top fragging player on the 2nd map and win a Club 3D Radeon HD 7850 royalKing graphics card!

Edit: Germany schocky was the player with the most frags on the second map (cp_process). He had a total of 33, not counting the golden cap round. 8 people predicted that number, the random winner is CzechRepublic filip. Congratulation!

In case two or more people predicted the same number or are equally off the mark, the winner will be picked at random. Only comments made until the second map starts are eligible.

In other news…

Epsilon eSports

broder

Epsilon eSports have the obvious edge tonight, but with a slightly unfamiliar roster and a tempered resolve as of late, its not unimaginable that Broder could have it all. Who goes home with the bigger share of the total prize pool of €990?

The VoDs of the Grand Finale can be found on our playoffs hub page (scroll down)!

Promotion: Introducing Club 3D

Date April 3, 2013

Today we are happy to introduce our new partner Club 3D and the details of our partnership to the ETF2L community. Club 3D will provide 6 Radeon HD 7850 royalKing graphics cards as prizes for the winner of our 15th 6v6 Season, starting in early May. Additionally, one lucky member of our community will get his hands on such a card a bit sooner in a contest accompanying tomorrow’s Grand Final of ETF2L Season 14 powered by Twitch.

The Radeon HD 7850 royalKing comes with an AMD HD 7850 GPU and 1 GB DDR5 memory. Thanks to the Club 3D CoolStream cooling system and the powerful overclocking software, it is possible to get even more performance out of the GPU. Additionally, the card supports PCI Express 3.0, AMD Eyefinity 2.0, AMD CrossFireX, AMD HD3D and has two HDMI ports supporting Ultra HD resolutions up to 4096×3112 pixel as well as an additional DVI port for multi monitor support. If the card is unused for a while, the ZeroCore Power technology will reduce the used power from 15W to about 3W in idle mode.

Team Colonslash Cup #1: Mid-cup updates!

Date April 3, 2013

Banner by European accless, logo by Germany MoZz

First of all, we want to apologise to the teams that signed up but weren’t given a chance to play. We encountered some technical difficulties with regards to the seeding. We had reserved some time for preparations but everything took longer than anticipated. For the next TC cup and cups on ETF2L in general, we will make sure we have sorted out the seedings at least one day before the cup starts and that we aren’t understaffed during the cup.

We also received a lot of complaints from teams about being in the wrong bracket. Our news posts had this covered by the “admin discretion” rule. For what it’s worth, the general rule of thumb we used was something along the lines of “if a team has a player with division 3 or higher match history in a recent season, they go to the higher bracket”. We also want to emphasise again that this cup was initially intended to focus only teams in division 4 and below. The only reason we later introduced a higher bracket was because the community had requested it. Had we not done this, the teams that were moved to the higher bracket would not have been allowed to play at all.

Fortunately, there is also good news. The cup went relatively well for the teams that did get to play. Most of the games were played on time and managed to keep to the schedule. The following teams have made it to the round of 8 of the prize winning lower bracket:

These teams will continue their progression in the lower bracket Thursday 4 April from 20.00 CEST onwards.

We’d like to remind the finalists that the cup finals will be held on Sunday 7 April, 20.00 CEST, with the ETF2L Premiership finals being scheduled for tomorrow (more on that later!). If you are in the finals after tomorrow, and you cannot play sunday, please contact an admin! Bear in mind also that there will be a playoff match for the semi-final losers to determine the third place.

Meanwhile, the marginally smaller High bracket has already seen the finals played, where European Fenneks eSports have fallen victim to Germany vier // red. The pixel trophies will be handed out when both brackets are wrapped up.

Highlander Season 4 powered by BlackOut Gaming: colony vs Parrot Gapers and DAROUTOUTOU vs Legolas’ Wrath

Date April 3, 2013

Premier Division: colony vs Parrot Gapers

Tonight will see European Parrot Gapers take on Highlander veterans Finland colony on the classic Highlander map Badwater. This is a complete rematch of Season 3’s encounter between these two teams, where colony came out victors 6-0. However that was European Parrot Gapers first game from last season, and they have improved considerably since then. Perhaps this match will showcase how this group of 6v6 players has adapted to high level Highlander?

European Parrot Gapers have already played a game this season against Spain 27, winning gravelpit on a golden cap, a very messy afair thanks to UnitedKingdom Gubbins “doing a Hildreth” and not showing up! Hopefully he will be making an appearance tonight.

Finland colony will be very familar with this map, having played it many many times, they will have to use this to their advantage to beat the Gapers’ strong DM. They’ll be relying on Highlander heavyweight Finland zoob to make some big plays, as he always does. Tonight will also see the debut of two non-Scandinavian players in France Phunk! on sniper, and Netherlands kKaltUu on heavy. We’ll have to see how these foreign influences affect them.

Premier Division: DAROUTOUTOU vs Legolas’ Wrath

A choice of games for you tonight, with the Frenchies taking on European Legolas’ Wrath, also on Badwater. This is a rematch of the Secondary Playoffs Final from Season 3, where we saw Legolas’ Wrath win in a match that went to the 3rd map! In that match, European Legolas’ Wrath won Badwater, we’ll have to see if the French team can redeem themselves tonight and claim 6 points!

One player which spectators will have their eye on for sure is Swegian broder’s France Flippy on Sniper, he seems to be one of France DAROUTOUTOU’s key players. His form will be essential to the outcome of this fixture. On the other side of the fixture Netherlands skeej tells me that European Legolas’ Wrath will have permanent classes this season, maybe we’ll see an improvement from them this season, they’ll be aiming for the Playoffs for sure!
