Season 15 Premiership Playoffs, Highlander Nations Cup #2: Matches and Unlock Updates

Date July 11, 2013

Highlander Nations Cup #2: Unlock Rule Updates

After last night’s huge updates, it became apparent that the unlock rules needed re-considering.

  • Effective today, the Darwin Danger Shield is now banned. After yesterday’s changes to the weapon, the wearer with full health can survive a quickscope headshot or a fully charged bodyshot. We believe this will have a significant impact on the game, and as such, this unlock has been banned from the Nations Cup until further notice

The whitelists won’t be updated right away, but this rule is effective immediately. We’ll let you know when we fix the whitelist. Other unlock updates will be announced at a later date.

Highlander Nations Cup #2: Bug Abuse

Please note that the Quick-Fix overheal bug is not allowed and any use of this will be considered as an exploit.

Nations Cup #4 powered by Blackout Gaming: Groups Announced!

Date July 10, 2013

Nations Cup #4 powered by Blackout Gaming: Groups Announced!

The groups have been seeded and drawn, with 4 groups of four teams and 4 groups of five teams with the winners and runners-up from each group proceeding to the knockout stage of the cup. You can find the full group listings HERE. The schedule for the group stages is as follows:

Group Stage:

  • “Extra” week: Played between Sunday 14th – Saturday 20th
  • Group Stages week 1: Played between Sunday 21st – Saturday 27th
  • Group Stages week 2: Played between Sunday 28th – Saturday 3rd
  • Group Stages week 3: Played between Sunday 4th – Saturday 10th
  • Tiebreakers: Played between Sunday 11th – Wednesday 14th

Groups with 5 teams will have 5 Weeks, as the uneven team count results in a bye week for some teams. For Group B, C, E and F, teams must play their Week 5 matches within the Week 1 deadline. This may be extended in special cases (for example a team having a week 4 and 5 match)Contact an admin on irc to find out if your matches apply as “special case” if you are unsure.

The schedule week has officially started! Try to schedule as many of your games as early as possible, as this ensures that you’ll find a suitable date. Remember late matches are not allowed – any games unplayed after the deadline will be nullified.

If you want your game to be casted, contact a casting organisation informing them of the schedule. Give them as many opportunities to cast as possible!

A reminder that all teams without at least 6 players on the team roster (exceptions may apply) by July 14 could be removed from the Cup.

Nations Cup #4 powered by BlackOut Gaming: Captains and other updates

Date July 9, 2013

Nations Cup #4 powered by BlackOut Gaming: Captains!

As a reminder, only national teams created by chosen Captains will be allowed to play in the 6v6 Nations cup.

Here is a list of captains chosen to represent their nation!

As for the chosen captains, we want you to use the same team page as last time (if applicable). If you need leader rights for that team, please contact an admin on IRC here. Captains should add the desired roster to the team page as soon as possible, remembering the maximum roster size of 13. Teams with less than 6 players on the team roster by July 14th could be removed from the Cup.

General

This cup will be played using the so called “North American” system. You can find more information about that in an earlier newspost or on the rules page once it is set up.

There will be no limits concerning how many players from the same team can play for a national team.

Map Schedule

  • Groups Week 1: cp_badlands
  • Groups Week 2: cp_gullywash_final1
  • Groups Week 3: cp_process_rc3
  • (Groups Week 4: cp_badlands)
  • (Groups Week 5: cp_gullywash_final1)
  • Round of 16: Best of 3
  • Quarter Final: Best of 3
  • Semi-Final: Best of 3
  • Grand Final: Best of 3

We decided to go with cp_granary over cp_metalworks. That means cp_badlands, cp_gullywash_final1, cp_process_rc3, cp_snakewater, cp_granary and koth_viaduct_rc4 will be in the map pool for this competetion.

There will be 4 groups with 4 teams and 4 groups with 5 teams. The groups with 5 teams will have to play one match more than the groups with 4 teams. Those week 4 and week 5 matches can be played during the “Extra” week, unless you want to use that week for preparation, in which case you will have to play 2 matches in week 1. Obviously you are allowed to play your matches at an earlier time than the week it is supposed to be played in. You are not allowed to play your matches later than when it is supposed to be played at though. Each match that is not played in the week it is supposed to be played in (week 1 match in week 1, week 2 match in week 2, …) will get nullified!

For the Round of 16 matches 1st placed teams will be matched against 2nd placed teams from other groups. The team coming from a 1st place will have the first map pick in this Best of 3 series. In any other Best of 3 series the teams have to either agree on the first map or perform a Heavy Fist Fight.
