After not losing a single map in season 26, Se7en have looked far shakier this season, dropping 5 points in the regular season as well as two whole maps during these playoffs. This, as well as the fact they’ve never played versus this particular Arctic Foxes lineup, leaves us with a bit of mystery as to the outcome of the grand final. This shouldn’t be the crushing victory that kaidus‘s men have enjoyed over the last few seasons, but rather a close game that should go the whole way. With Season 27 in the playoff stages the season is over for the majority of teams. However there is still over a month to go till the insomnia61 LAN kicks off, but do not worry as here at ETF2L we have a series of summer cups both serious and fun planned over the next month.

There will be a cup run each week. In this post we will have info on the first two of the four cups, the schedule and info for the later pair of cups will be released after the first two have concluded as these cups are still in planning stages. If you have any ideas that you would like to see for a short weekend cup let us know either on discord or in the comments.

Basketball 2on2 Cup #6

The first cup in this series will be a BBall Cup running over the 28th, 29th and 30th of July. There will be four team groups with the bo1 games taking place on Friday the 28th. The top two teams from each group will proceed to the single elimination knockout stages which will be run over Saturday the 29th and Sunday the 30th. These will be bo1 until the Semi Finals from which point on all games will be bo3.

Sign-ups for Basketball 2on2 Cup #6 will be open until Thursday 27th 21:00 CEST. All group matches without submitted results by Friday 28th 23:59 CEST will be coinflipped. The rules for the cup can be seen [here] or under the rules tab.

All games will be played on ctf_ballin_sky, and freezecam must be set off. There are only 128 spots so make sure you signup ASAP to ensure you get a spot!

Additional rules:

• A team that does not show up for a scheduled match will be disqualified from the tournament.
• Mercs and backups are only allowed during the group stage (maximum one) and have to be approved by the opponent. Please make sure that one of your players plays in all matches.
• You need to play all matches in the knockout stage with the same two players, one of them must be a player who played in all group stage matches. Teams violating this rule will be disqualified from the competition.

Two of the most experience-filled rosters in prem lock horns in this do-or-die match. We’ve never seen these two in a best of three before (thanks to LEGO‘s hiatus last season) but expect fireworks from both teams nontheless. LEGO have proven they’re capable of picking up from where they left off by taking a map from Se7en in their first round game, and will look to surpass their rivals who finished a mere two points ahead of them in the regular season. Arctic Foxes will be hungry for the chance to make it two grand finals out of two, and will be out for blood, but don’t write off the possibility that small plastic men will triumph over one of nature’s most deadly predators.

The opening games of the playoffs of this season of ETF2L have given us two teams to go head-to-head for an immediate place in the Grand Final. The first is Se7en, the powerhouse of EU with a season win-streak of 6, stretching all the way back to 2015. With kaidus reintroduced to the roster, they’ve looked pretty much unassailable all season save for a one-map upset at the hands of Unexpected, who aren’t in these playoffs. The challenger is Politically correct pander, a team who improved on last season’s placing to reach the top 4 thanks to the introduction of Funs and Crayon to a roster filled with very experienced talent, most notably the monster pocket uubers, who drops above 10k dpm most maps. This could be as tight a test as Se7en get this season, so be sure not to miss it on tonight’s stream.
