Yeah, probably the same week. Not quite sure when exactly yet though.
We’re also in the middle of trialing people at the moment, so chances are we can play this date without mercs after all, I’m just not entirely sure right now.

Meh. I would deny it if I could. You really thought I’d be happy if you merc a guy who thinks he should be playing in div. 3? But as he’s now without team you could’ve simply added him to your roster (for just the night) and there’d have been nothing I could’ve done. So I can’t see a valid reason to say no, but obviously I’d rather have you play with some div. 5/6 schmuck. Despite your aspirations, we’re still both playing in div. 5 you know. Bottom line: go ahead, but don’t ask me to nominate you for the sportsmanship award at the end of the season.
Now that we’re talking anyway, I’d ask you something as well. Neusbeer asked me to test PMOD for the ETF2L. It’s plugin that generates this kind of data after the match: http://pmod.etboosts.com/_test/samplerepo.php?idx=106
Pretty cool right? We would’ve tested it last night, but someone insisted to play without sourcemod enabled (and denying us to play on our own server in the process, as we can’t even change maps without sourcemod). I don’t know if you are as paranoid as he is, so I’m asking in advance.
Oh, the only thing is that we’d have to play on our server or on an official ETF2L server.
I have no problems with you denying a merc, but are you saying we should get a merc that plays below our own level just because “this is only div5”? o.O Fantomen is actually trialing for us, so he might as well be in our roster..

We are not ‘cheating’ on you by having a higher div merc. We are requesting a merc that plays at our own level!
Alternatively, we have more trialists that we could ask to merc for us, but the same will go for them. They all come from div4/3 (having played different classes in most cases).
I’m not trying to be difficult here, mind. I’m as against carry mercs as you are, but we’re not requesting to use a carry merc here. Again, we are requesting a merc that plays at our own level.
Also, we have always had a demoman skilled slightly above ourselves. If we had not been in the situation we are in (losing our demoman and having to find mercs and trialists), it would not be any different for you guys. Please bear in mind that our merc is replacing our main caller.
Just saying.
Anyway, I will try to look for another merc, but I can’t make any promises.

Please go ahead and trial him, if you reread what I said I wasn’t asking you to look for someone else! I really don’t see why I should object to it, but that still doesn’t mean I have to be happy with getting his pipes in my face all night. And I actually started with stating that he could’ve been on your roster to begin with.
I understand you weren’t denying us the merc. I am merely appreciating the fact that you’re not happy with it (while explaining we’re not trying to use a “carry merc” that plays WAY above our own level), hence I will try to find someone else – I just can’t make any promises in that regard.
I am willing to do this because sportsmanship is important to us, and I take slight offense to your accusations. Sportsmanship is indeed entirely irrelevant when we want to use a merc who is probably joining our team anyway.
We’re playing in this league to get good games. Winning is nice, but we’re not going to get carry mercs just so we can win more easily.
That’s pretty much all I have been trying to say in my previous comment; we’re not trying to cheat on you, but we appreciate your concerns.
I could just as easily say “we’re top div 5 and you’re not, so just deal with it”, but I don’t want to travel the elitist road.
Hm, I didn’t intend to insult you. Besides a different POV on what is “our own level” I have the idea you get my point (although it’s clear you don’t agree with me, which is fine). Your response is more than satisfactory. Besides that, I just saw Fantomen already played an official match with you, which is comforting enough for me that there is an actual possibility he will join your team. I’ve had bad experiences with mercs that turned out to carry some crappy teams to victory, but there’s no reason to take that out on you as you haven’t given the slightest reason for that (rather the opposite). By now it feels like nitpicking over something irrelevant, and I don’t want to take this negative energy into our match. Like I said, besides a bad feeling there’s no reason to object, and your response comforts me enough to take back my words, and please play with this guy. I’ll welcome his pipes in my face with grace.
Yes, I do indeed get your point. I am in fact willing to go for a re-match if you feel our use of merc turns out inappropriate and unfair. By which I mean to imply that I am confident this won’t be the case.

Yeah, in the end it probably wouldn’t matter much who you’d field anyway. But the upside is that we’ll have those pretty awesome pmod stats to see what actually happened. Let’s focus on that instead.

What I wanted to say is that I thoroughly enjoyed the discussion here above, because it utterly defeats the notion that people who partake in events designed to test their prowess in the electronical sports are of a rude and pitiable kind.
The gentlemen above have shown beyond any shadow of a doubt that they are truly that; gentle men of good breeding and better upbringing, both being wise and kind in their ways and fully able to take part in a serious exchange of views and ideas whilst never lower themselves to the detestable level which, alas, is so common in our modern albeit rude world.
