Is it possible to have multiple Desktop Shortcuts for TF2,
one say “regular one”
and one “idling maxed out settings” with -sw -h 200 -w 400 +fps_max 1 etc.?
I guess in the Shortcut Properties in the line “Target” there has to be something added to:
ffs i cant paste it here without it becoming a link :/
but with which SEPERATOR and how?
(FYI i have a Steam partition (D:) without the nasty Program Files stuff :)

for nonsteam yes, but every steam game is later aunched with steam settings anyway
yea you can have as many as you like. just set launch options after -applaunch 440 in shortcut properties
I cant create a shortcut directly out of steam because it just shows me the error message in the screenshot
I guess thats the reason, why it doesnt work if i add commands to the line just with -sw -h… etc..

just rename earlier shortcut before trying to create a new one :p
The funny things are:
# i have no tf2 shortcut on the desktop
# i cant create a desktop shortcut for steam game in my list
my “Target Line” screenshot since i cant alter the size of the properties window: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3760395/Target.JPG
now it works, just fixed my shortcut target line from the automatically generated to that what steam would have done.
Other problem: TF2 keeps on crashing with this settings on connecting server screen or just in the moment you join the server.
The line:
D:steam.exe -applaunch 440 -sw -h 200 -w 400 -dxlevel 95 -novid
I would prolly use -w 640 -h 480 -noborder -window , dunno if tf2 goes that low res :D
yea, works, thank you!
sadly fps_max is 30 :/
You could do it with two .reg files, here would be the contents:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareValveSteamApps440]
"LaunchOptions"="-w 1280 -h 720 -dxlevel 95 -window +exec autoexec.cfg -novid +sv_pure 0 +sv_cheats 1 -console +exec menu.cfg"
That’ll change TF2 launch options globally.
@ klu, when i use dxlevel 95 tf2 chrashes when i load a map/demo. level 90 works though
do u get better quality from 95 ??

Slightly better, try disabling multicore rendering
