siberia v2 is defo enough whatever people say
Every owner that I know had them break in the same spot.
Audiophile headphone with zalman clip on, or if you care about mic quality, get a mod mic.
I like Sennnheisers 350/360 headphones too. If you got cash to burn, Beyerdynamic MMX300 Manufaktur ofc :D

Any idea if it’ll work on the dt990s? They don’t really look like they have any smooth surface thats big enough.
should be fine. this is how i fitted mine: http://i.imgur.com/hGK397w.jpg it’s rock solid, even though i had to restick it twice from my previous sennheisers.
Thanks for all the suggestions.
Mod mic does seem to be a favorite among the community.
But it’s around £20 not including shipping and vat. Which is quite pricey for me. (i, know i orginally said £50 but i was expecting them to be a headset; so i have decided on headphones and a mic)
So i have found a cheap alternative… http://gwiki.xach.org/index.php/File:1316372662626.png

I bought that microphone (actually, three of them). One didn’t work, and one that did had a lot of noise which I wasn’t able to reduce using my soundcard. I would guess that the soundcloud audio clip has been edited with audacity or something to reduce the noise even more. So it probably wouldn’t sound that good in Mumble. Worth a shot I guess.
anyone know anything about Sennheiser HD215 II? im thinking of buying them but i don’t know

I don’t know that one. Sennheiser HD 280 Pro is considered to be pretty good, so maybe look at that? (I don’t know what both of these cost)

I know nothing about those particular headphones but I’ve been using Sennheiser for such a long time now and I can tell you that pretty much any product of them is amazing.
If you don’t believe me I will hack your PoE account and steal all your stuff.

Just because my opionion is not the same as your opinion doesn’t make my opinion worse. I’ve used a couple of sennheiser headsets/headphones and headsets/headphones from other manufacturers and for my field of usage sennheiser offer the best quality/comfort for an affordable price.
If you use headphones professially I can see that those are not the way to go. But for home usage they’re way more than enough.

atmo, i trust your ears, i don’t need a microphone, give me a headset for maximum 80euro
superlux hd668b from thomann.de (€35), creative aurvana live! (price varies between €50-70) or lindy premium hifi from amazon.co.uk (€90)
@profix main problem I had with your post was saying that all Sennheiser products are good. Their low-midrange headphones are not good value at all and trade on this perception that you are spreading.
“good enough” isn’t really a target that you want to be aiming towards when there are so many options out there if you do some research.

Why not create an ‘Atmo’s Audio Advice’ thread where you can update with the bestest stuff for different budgets and avoid having to answer all these things individually?
Just an idea. Was gonna ask my own question but feel bad making you do all this work.

this should be linked somewhere in ETF2L forums
tl;dr: take Creative aurvana live, as atmo said and the Zalman ZM1 for 6€ (amazon), I use the mic myself, it´s completely fine for TS/Mumble and easier to get than the Modmic, which you have to import from the US
