do you have wlan?
It would help us alot, if you would post some more information about your system.
Operating system (23/64bit), system specs, etc would help greatly.
And if you could check if you see any application / system errors in your eventviewer that might tell us what the problem is? A hijack log would tell us some more too.

Guaranteed to do with audio (drivers/settings in registry) or your network card.
I had the same a couple of weeks back, would just randomly stop/freeze for 1 second or less. Switched ethernet cards and worked a treat :)

I have had this problem before with Freezes and in the end it was audio that was causing my problem..
