Random lock-ups

Every 5 mins or so my TF2 will lock up for about 5 seconds and jitter about, it’s not the entire PC stalling, it’s just TF2 alone, I run chris’s FPS config but it happens without it, I use mumble and MSN in the background, I’ve tried turning off other screens and shit too.
It only started about a month ago, has any program become unstable since then and been affecting their TF2 as well?

Not trying to steal your thread but I’ve recently started getting mouse lag every 5 mins where i still get stable 125fps and keyboard inputs work but my mouse just does not seem to work. After the lagspike the input is accelerated (i.e. the crosshair snaps to where i should be aiming).
Used to think it was steam communities fucking up again but it still happened when i turned off steam friends so I don’t know what it could be…I use digsby and I know thats quite unstable sometimes but this doesn’t happen with other games (afaik, not played any other source games)

Does disabling the Mumble overlay fix this?
If not, try http://fakkelbrigade.eu/chris/misc/reset.bat
I don’t use the mumble overlay in TF2
As far as I can tell that solved both issues, ty chris.
reset the tf2 game by Autoconfig and delete tf folder.
It will reset all your settings.
Have any Antivirus installed and running?

no, it won’t. not all settings are restored by -autoconfig and not all settings are stored in /tf/.
No AV installed, mouse problem still present, but the 5 second lockup has gone.
