Werid Textures on items when using dxlevel 80/81

So basically when i use the dxlevel 80/81 command, items like Prussian pickelhaube, golden/silver badges, ze goggles, mining light and some other hats have this weird texture. Its like a yellowish brown color on them instead of their usual color.
Do any of you guys have this kind of problem. Is there any fix to it?
Will try and link some screens later.
It’s a fire texture, and it’s a bug with dx 8 don’t think anyone knows away to stop it

And has valve addressed this issue as of yet?
What are your values for mat_specular and mat_bumpmap?
I had it but it got fixed with the update just after the mac update
I have it when running no configs, just plain dx8 after -autoconfig with no autoexec/blank config.cfg.
Hardware bug, maybe?
got a core 2 duo 2.84 ghz, nvidia 8600 gt and 2 gb ram with win 7.
Now i know its not a game breaking bug, but it pisses me off that i spent 3 months to find items and crafted ze goggles but now it has weird textures
I always thought it was just a bug in the dx8 code, but maybe it’s a driver bug or something. I’m using an nvidia GPU too.
Are the people who aren’t getting the problem with dx8 running ATI by any chance?
I’ve always had this as well, i thought it was mostly due to the FPS configs removing some kind of needed texture or something.
It dissapears on a normal install and on normal DX level.

Same for me, but the configs don’t ‘remove textures’, so that isn’t it.
It happens for me without configs. :x

I’m running it on an ATI 4670 with dx8 and i’m getting the “flame” textures.
Seems mainly to be occuring on shiny metal objects such as the pickelhaube and medals.
