they always said that the developed the game parallel on all three platforms, so there is no real port
but still all the footage in trailers etc was only console play and nobody ever saw the pc game yet

This was the impression I got from gameplay videos as well, people scoping up a lot and moving around slowly. Now most people I know are really excited for the game and I don’t get it at all, thought it looked terrible. Then again I’m a notorious downer, so don’t pay any attention to me. Just going to wait for month 3 post-release, if people still play it then, I might consider buying it.

brink only works together with steam, so yes you will have to activate the key with steam

Not sure why, but the lack of PC in game footage and all of the official game play being released being from the 360 is making it kinda off putting :/
