Right, I wouldn’t do this normally as I know there are X amount of new mouse threads kicking around, HOWEVER!!! Its pretty specific.
Its a sad sad day in that the yellow ms 3.0 has died (well it hasnt actually died but its on its way out and I can’t find out where in the cable its fucked) Its basically turning itself on and off and I know its only guna get worse so i am thinking about getting a new mouse.
Ideally, I want another intellimouse 3.0 HOWEVER (again) I would only want another yellow alienware version, mainly due to the fact its a lot smoother on the top but I can’t find anywhere in which they are stocked (apart from new zealand lol) so a replacement is my first choice :)
If this isn’t possible I would need something that is durable, this is now the 3rd mouse I’ve broke in a little under 2 years. First mouse was a Microsoft Habu in which the cable broke similar to my current mouse, the 2nd mouse was a shitty optical mouse in which I broke to the mouse1 and had to play with mouse2 and primary attack and now the wire is dodgy in this one.
I don’t rage with my mouse its just I tend to play on a low sens and It gets thrown around a lot (turris @ lan = LOL) so the main thing I am looking for is durability in a mouse!! Its gotta last essentially!!!
Open to ideas however won’t go for a mx518 mainly because I hate the way it feels in my hand (no pun intended :D)
cheers

Deathadder?
Its about time you got a new mouse! That last one was dirtyer then fingering your sister and finding your dads engagement ring.
Xai is nothing like MS 3.0 in terms of shape.
Dunno how you cope using low sens with a MS 3.0 or your Habu before that considering the sensor deficiencies in both.
I suggest an original 3G Deathadder or alternatively a Zowie EC1 provided you don’t mind the prediction (same sensor as MX518). Shouldn’t be an issue for you since you use low sensitivity. Both of these mice have a similar shape and weight to the MS 3.0 and better durability.
Wasn’t there a Special Edition MS 3.0 released a few years ago (2007 iirc??) which also had a glossy finish on it? Worth searching for if you prefer sticking with what you know.
[EDIT] Alternatively you could always switch out the cable on your current mouse for a new one, shouldn’t be too difficult.

Closer than the DA

LOL no… DA has a non-symmetrical sloped profile which forms to the right hand like the MS 3.0 whilst the Xai is an ambidextrous mouse which is identical on both sides.
Perhaps you are confusing the MS 3.0 with the MS 1.1/1.1a which the Xai is extremely similar to in shape.

DA feels a lot different to the MS3.0 to me. I kinda like the MS3.0 but hate the DA.
How are the current IE3.0s not smooth? I have one right beside me at this very moment and I would describe it as such. It’s not as sturdy as the WMO or IM1.1 or the previous version, but should be able to handle a beating. The WMO is bloody immortal, you can do anything to that mouse.
Zowie make a glossy coated version of the IM1.1 that fits your description. http://www.gamegear.be/popup_image.php?pID=1625&osCsid=3umir07c674t726le1hhvl6lv6 I personally don’t like the shape, the right indentation and the leaning edges makes it a bit hard to lift.
Another option would be to buy a mouse of your liking, and take the top parts to an auto workshop to have it coated. I’ve seen it done with cellphone shells with good result. Replacement feet can be bought from various places if you mess up any while disassembling the mouse.

Yep I also have both and agree they feel different to hold. Personally I prefer the DA shape although I don’t use either mouse anymore.
I also have the Xai (bricked from firmware upgrade so don’t use it either) and it feels far more distinct from the MS 3.0 than the DA does.
