How come your answers are more intelligent and witty then those of the pro players?
Can tf2 expand in 7v7 and 9v9 competative realm.

Mainly, they are not front figures because they are great, they are front figures because they are relatively great. From an entertainment aspect, if the premier division teams were to disappear, division 1 would become the new highest division with not too much changed.

Are you aware that the current top players were amongst the top in other games likes css, tfc and ns2? Based on that, wouldn’t you conclude that they are good players in general and not relatively?

Additionally, why do you think most pubbers and highlander players object so strongly to above reasoning?

I’m sorry, I think you misunderstood me. I wasn’t trying to say that they’re not great players (of course they are, there’s no doubt about that), I was saying that they are front figures because they are the best players. Therefore, if the current division 1 were to replace the current premier division, there wouldn’t be much changed from an entertainment aspect.

Additionally, why do you think most pubbers and highlander players object so strongly to above reasoning?

I’m afraid I might misunderstand this question, so it would be great if you could rephrase it for stupid old me :)

You don´t believe good skill makes for better games (ignoring the unlocks factor for a moment)?

From reading the steamforums and talking to a few players, a lot of them seem to think “pro players would get owned in pubs” where most 6v6 players see skill as something more universal.

racio, What ashkan is trying to say (i believe) If tomorrow all the premier players stopped playing, and the teams folded, TF2, and ETF2L would carry on as is, with all the DIV 1 players promoted to the new figure heads of TF2, which all the 12 year olds would look up to, and the entertainment would continue as is (all be it with a little skill drop)

Do you know “the well” series is about top players trying to help lower players?

hmm, are they? :P

9v9, no. 7v7, yes. In a 7v7 league, players will play as competitively and seriously as they want to, enjoy the game and develop their skills and affect 6v6. They shouldn’t expect MGOs or prize money though. I think 6v6 will the main and only thing for that in the foreseeable future.

It does. In the current European TF2 scene, I think that difference is very small from an entertainment perspective (which is the only subject I’m touching on now).

That’s just because Exfane doesn’t know how the new knife works. Seriously though, I don’t know why anyone would think that, it’s just ridiculous and not even worth discussing. Sure, most of the tactical experience and teamwork becomes useless, but skill remains. Then of course there are alternative classes and maps where experienced pubbers would manage better, but that’s it.

I hope it is, otherwise my irony fails (read original post). I think it has already failed though, since people took it somewhat seriously and started asking questions…

Anyway, I didn’t know that there actually was a “the well” series. Could somone link me to them? I’ve only seen the two threads created here, where the questions can even be completely unrelated to TF2.

One of history’s toughest philosophical riddles, raising questions regarding observation and knowledge of reality. The answers are endless and will not be presented here.

Well I think a lot would change from an entertainment perspective, they are the best because the others are worse.

It is true that the average player wouldn’t notice a difference, and can barely tell the difference between div2 game and a div1 game. But there is a significant difference.

Tf2 has way too much going on to keep track of in a single game anyway. When you see a game casted a lot of key moments tend to go unnoticed. It’s very hard to keep track of all players, respawns, ubers, positions, damage, ammo/reload, health packs, cp timing just to name a few variables.

So you have a point, but to say that games would be equally entertaining that just wouldn’t be the case for me.

I’m sure it wouldn’t. I was referring to the general public, not the fine wine tasters, so to speak ^^
Even I (!) might entertained more by the premier division teams than I am by the division 1 teams, and put that difference in to absolute terms rather than relative terms.

In any case, since the nature of the question is such that it can not be answered, let’s not debate it further. Besides, apparently this long-running, copyrighted, getting-out-of-hands The Well (or in my case, The Wall) series is not about argumentation, but merely about experienced pros like me helping out noobs.
