What is your view on the premier div players?

Do you feel that they are of a big help of the community (seeing as they are the front figures)

They are indeed front figures and a lot of players look up to them. I think a few of them over-estimate themselves when it comes to entertainment value, and want most of the rules and restrictions to be adjusted according to their wishes, not what the lower divisions might want. Mainly, they are not front figures because they are great, they are front figures because they are relatively great. From an entertainment aspect, if the premier division teams were to disappear, division 1 would become the new highest division with not too much changed. That’s why I’m a bit disappointed in seing some players getting mad about new unlocks, demanding drastic restrictions that might in some ways ruin our e-sport. That discussion has already blown over now from what I’ve seen, but the arguments used by a few of the top players was a bit saddening.

Other than that small area, I think the top players are doing an almost perfect job of representing Team Fortress 2.

How do you think tf2 will be in a years time?

Let’s take this from a competitive point of view. E-sports need stability. If you look at real sports like football and basketball, they change very little over time. The changes are gradual and natural. The same needs to apply to e-sports. In order for that to take effect, developers, competitive players and public players need to work closely together. That’s practically been the case so far in TF2, and the game will be in a great place in a few years time if it continues. There’s a reason CS/CSS and Starcraft are so huge. Continuous updates and/or game sequels will be needed and the competitive community will have to work their way to an economically sustainable model. If you see Team Dignitas making some embarassing promo for a network card or something, laught at appe’s protips, but don’t mock them.

From a pub point of view (if Valve keeps working on TF2) the player base will be a lot larger, generating a larger income for Valve. Not much more to say really :P

And yes, I’m just spitting out nonsense and stating the obvious.

This is the question all the ‘high skilled’ Highlander people want to know…

But why do you want to know?

Why did you leave Lokalen to join wat?

Since all the 6v6 seasons started, that’s where the players’ main focus has lied, with half of Alpha playing in Spam Effect. Since I don’t have any 6v6 team to play in and I can’t take the upcoming 7v7 season in Wireplay that seriously, I seek competitiveness and motivation in the tournament. With byte getting Wat to go through tactics, give each other feedback, play seriously etc, I prefer trying my best and finishing the tournament there. Spam Effect has a great chance of winning their division and moving quickly in the 6v6 ranks, and Wat has a good chance of getting far in the tournament, so in terms of competitiveness, that’s what both teams should be focusing on in my opinion. Sadly, I can’t play Spy in 6v6 :P

Also – How can you play 2fort without the urge to commit suicide after playing?

Because I die so often that I cherish life afterwards.

Finally – Will you promote our next Highlander cast this Sunday?

Sure. I don’t know what more I can do though, I’ve already made you an officer in the highlander group so you can add events ;) I’ll message my highlander mates as well though, make sure they watch it! In a few playoff stages I’ll spam Robin, they’ll surely give it a mention in the blog. What are you casting by the way?

If you have a petri dish with nutritious solution and puts a amoeba in it, the amoeba thrives very well and splits itself every minute, after 1 min theres 2, after 2 mins theres 4 and so on.
After 40 minutes the dish is full, but after how many minutes is it half full?

No one knows; maybe it’s been full for 30 minutes!!1!

:(?!

How would you improve 2fort? I believe it’s too fast-paced ATM and it clearly needs something to make Snipers and Engineers a more viable class. Do you agree?

You consider there being a few new unlocks (those that have been tested, allowed and are actually viable alternatives that affect the game) to be big changes that make the sport unstable? They’re not even worthy to mention when you look at the bigger picture and all the other factors that make the sport more stable.

Mission accomplished. If I write something and no one answers, others will think I was right.

I’m sorry, I can’t really relate to your problems :(
On Lokalen’s 2fort server, things are basically perfect. We’ve got at least 3 snipers at all times. Usually, the rounds end 0-0 with neither team pushing. At any given time, you’ll see three sentries in our intelroom and one in our own sewers. Each team also has one demoman camping the entrance the whole round. The remaining 4 players are standing in spawn trading with the other 4 remaining players on the opponent’s team.

So come on over and join the fun, you haven’t experienced 2fort until you’ve played on Lokalen’s 2fort.

Yes I am. I will gift you a hat, but first to must sacrifice unto me at least two hats. Kinda like how religious people sacrifice animals and humans to get a better harvest, but then still get scammed.

have you found a good way to get nine people organised to play highlander that doesn’t involve hysterical last-minute merc searching?

If I deserve a community knife, the admins here deserve a community…… kukri……

have you found a good way to get nine people organised to play highlander that doesn’t involve hysterical last-minute merc searching?

At the start of the tournament, I initially created 3 teams. I then spoke to all of the players individually to know how much time they were willing to put in. I then placed the most dedicated ones on the same team and the least dedicated ones on the same team. If you have mixed teams containing people with varying intentions and ambitions, you’ll have a very hard time getting enough players for each match and you’ll inevitabely have some disgruntled players and conflicts. So that’s the first thing: invest the time required to guarantee a stable and ambitious roster, so you won’t have to look for mercs.

Second thing: Get to know people. Add other dedicated highlander players on steam and talk to them from time to time. If them making friends with you isn’t enough motivation, at least do it so both of you can merc for each other when needed.

Last thing: Set a clear deadline for the players. One hour (for example) before the match, if they haven’t confirmed that they can play, you’ll start looking for mercs. After the deadline, if you find a merc but the starter tells you he can play, always let the merc play so that the starter takes it more seriously and the merc doesn’t get disappointed and refuses to merc for you in the future.

Those are the things I can think of that aren’t always obvious to everyone.
