2nd hand is your friend.
For that low a price, I would search for a decent 2.0 setup, because in this low price range, the 2.1 sets you get are mostly sattelite speakers that sound like radio alarm clocks, and subwoofers that actually can’t do bass. So you get worst of both worlds. Maybe you know someone who has an old unused reciever/integrated amplifier lying in their basement/attic. If you search well, you can find some pretty decent passive speakers for 50-60 euros. Finding acceptable active speakers in that pricerange will be hard.
Also, what was the reason for not going for headphones again?
Lol skeej got to dissagree there.. I got quite some decent sound and my subwoofer is on the lowest “setting” and if I play my music too loud everything shakes and no not just my hips.. my housemate also really gets annoyed if I play it too loudly we got quite a big home and still the subwoofers bass reaches his room .. on the lowest setting..
so anyone knows something about this ones? http://www.consumersearch.com/computer-speakers/harman-kardon-soundsticks-ii

I have one of those. Quite good speakers tbh. Not too expensive and they perform well enough.
my eye is on AudioEngine A2 and Creative Gigaworks T3 2.1 Multimedia Speaker System. Can’t decide.

Scan Speak Reference Monitors
Everybody who thinks Logitech sounds good, or they make good subwoofers, is a complete idiot. /rant

Save up some money.
Damn Koeitje, what took you so long! Was waiting for you to see this topic and back me up with some elitist audiolover’s statements :D
So Dauk, considering you are … considering… the Audioengine A2 system, this means you upped your budget? I’d always go for a 2.0 set over a 2.1 set if you are in a price range under 500 euros. You’ll generally just have way better speakers for the money. It seems these babies are 190 euros for a set? For that money, my advice still counts. Second hand baby! It will get you speakers double the value of the A2 probably. But if you cba going that way, the A2 has good reviews (for it’s price category), and like I said, I’d go for a 2.0 system over a 2.1 system.

I just bought some Creative Gigaworks T20s and the sound isnt bad at all for the price. 2.0 though, i dont mind personally cos it saves space and the bass isnt too bad
