ok, my brand new mx518 just arrived and it’s a beautiful piece of work, now the next problem is making the most out of it.
I used to play with 400dpi, window sens default and ingame at 1.5 which gives me 70cm for a 360 turn.
now I want to know is would it be best to use 1800dpi, change the multiplier to 0.25, ingame 1.2 and have a 1800dpi mouse?
i would assume that a higher dpi is more accurate but im sure someone here can set me straight with the real details yo’.
Higher dpi hardly makes a difference, but if you really want to use a higher dpi, keep the windows modifier at default (6th notch I belive) and just change ingame sens. The correct ingame sens should be 1/3. Also, I think the mx518 only works properly on certain dpi’s, but I haven’t actually used the mouse myself so I wouldn’t know more about that.

The best way to do it:
Set it to 1800dpi (assuming you’re using the 2nd edition) with SetPoint (so that it is automatically set), keep the windows multipler at the default (middle) or else you will get pixel jumping, and just set your in-game sens.

I once read an article on the now long dead site http://www.sourcejunky.com that having your mouse DPI set to the lowest value will increase aim consistency. Can’t even remember the explanation/reasoning behind it but it was something along the lines of if the mouse was set to a higher dpi moving it the slightest of mm’s is going to effect your crosshair positioning and will generally require you to be alot more pristine with aiming, especially in lower res’s which is what I’ve always used for games. Anyway I bought it hook, line and sinker and I’ve used 400 dpi with the 518s I’ve had ever had since :D
For the love of god don’t use the setpoint drivers, so much better without!

You can’t set the sensitvity in tf2 below 1 :/ so I can’t really use 1800dpi without changing the windows one. or is there a way/am i being retarded?
no wait, it’s me being retarded.

Yes, u can dude.
The is a console command like mouse_sensitivity or something like that.
BTW which is better ?
im using a Logitech G5 (blue edition)
Windows defeault (Disable Pointshelper… or how u call it)
No driver so thats around 800 DPI.
and an ingame sens of 9.1
Should i change it to 1800 DPI or 2000 DPI and lesser sens ingame ?
i dont know whats better
Im only use my pulse from left to right is 4/5 of 360 degrees

never change windows multiplier!
if you;re going to do it, change dpi or in-game sensitivity, it’s the same thing at the end of the day.

well yeah, if you have a high dpi compared to your resolution then the sensitivity will be really high. it’s just the same effect as setting your in-game sens really high as well.
but having a low dpi and high in-game sens makes no difference to having a high dpi and low in-game sens, despite what anyone else says.

How are you setting that automatically without SetPoint?
it should be 800 DPI like other game-ing mouses.
There’s a + and – button either end of the wheel Chris. They cycle through the DPI’s
