When I try to render shit in AE, they come out with no video, or sound.
Anyone know some good render options, cause I seem to be failing.

when i use AE i render out the footage in Quicktime (animation) for best quality then import into Premiere for editing. Works ok like that for me.

Never delt with sound in AE, dont think its really built for it.

I just render to uncompressed AVI for editing in Vegas, works best for me.

And like Bones, I’ve never used used sound in AE, don’t really see the point as the bulk of the editing would be done in Vegas / Premiere, with AE just for the little fancy effects ;)

press the “Lossless” text in the render options and make sure you have “Render audio” or whatever the last bit says.

Im using CS3. But the export options are as far as Ive seen the same as CS4.

Sound works just as fine in After Effects as in Premiere. – To hear it, you need to either pre render (shortcut: 0) or hold down ctrl/cmd when you drag the slider. If there´s not really any need to do more compositing in the video outisde of After Effects, exporting with sound from After Effects gives you the easiest control over colour output.

As for your exporting question, 1st of all make sure you are using Composition>Add to render queue.

If the standard output (with ticked boxes for export sound and export video) doesnt work, something is wrong.

My preferred option for best quality pr filesize is exporting from After Effects uncompressed .Mov, then experimenting in Quicktime Pro for the best results. It will usually be h.264, high quality.
