Hey all,
I’ve recently got into using PLDX Recording Tool instead of FRAPS and i have only just started using Sony Vegas and i have come across a problem…
After recording my Clips in PLDX in a .AVI Format and Encoded them i open them up in Vegas but for some reason when i press “Play”, i can only hear the Audio and i can not see the Video, i head it was something to do with Codecs, but i am unsure which one to download and how to link it with Vegas…
I know alot of you are experianced with using both of these Programs so i thought here would be the best place to post…
Thanks in advance…
if you install a codec, it will be linked to every program automatically, through windows
umm, maybe a stupid idea, but didn’t you ‘deactivate’ the video footage?:D to show/hear only the audio
You have to render it in Vegas first. Not even super PCs can handle raw avi ;)

You render the avi in Vegas after it has been compiled/encoded. Raw avi’s won’t run smoothly.
It’s normal to not be able to play back uncompressed footage in Vegas without an i7. Just render it and see how it comes out.

i think, he means, he can’t play in vegas, like a preview
That is what i mean… :)
Don’t render to avi directly from the game. It’s overall just really buggy and although that might not be the issue here, it’s much better to render out a bunch of screenshots and use virtualdub to make an avi
What file size is the avi you’re trying to watch in vegas? Anything over 2 GB will bug out a majority of the time

I can preview raw .avi footage on preview (auto)
Yet I cannot run tf2 on decent gfx without serious fps lag ^^

i can’t aswell, until i loop.
Can you tell me how you “Loop”, as i am new to the whole Sony Vegas deal…
I understand what you mean as I had the same problem.
He isn’t talking about it being laggy when he tries to play it back, he’s saying that when he drags the video down to the timeline, it appears as only 1 track, the audio track.
I googled it and downloaded a driver pack, restarted and it worked fine. But I can’t for the life of me remember the codec pack I used. When I get back to my tf2 pc later this week I can get you the codec name.
tl:dr, its nothing to do with rendering. Its to do with a codec.
