Soldier Weps, Overpowered or not?

Seems people here cant see the pozitive thing about the new launcher…valve did it to improve the competitive part.Why I say that?
I say that becauze just think about this.Pub people get the new rocket launcher…they experiment it and they see they can actualy do shit with it -> they get bored of pub -> they learn about etf2l -> we got the comunity bigger and bigger
From what I see it’s the exact opposite, baddies are using it as a spam weapon, even in pug channels the soldiers are just spamming with it in the hopes it minicrits, or holding the higher ground denying jump strats. It’s the equivilent of the “fan” for scouts and the “huntsman” for snipers, it provides an easier option if played in a certain way (ie,. spam). You can tell this because even though there’s a tiny bit of splash the majority of soldiers are aiming bodyshots, rather than trying to bounce.

Hm mkay you are right…anyways I just saw a vid by some pub fag who made an airshot fragvid with TDH and the next day he was asking on the steam forums how can he go competitive lol (yeah the TDH spam is cool on freight, me and che used to roll in a pug like , getting the enemys 25 hp with the TDH from far distance, then the demo jumping all over them)

I agree with gryzor about one thing in general. No pubers will substitute comunity, it will just become another CS. The fact comunity is growing is good, but only then, when the main comunity is still alive, not half of them are thinking of moving forward, leaving TF2 etc. I still can’t see ANY admin thought on this one. 800 replys… 800!!! And you still can’t clear your mind about this topic?

I just get annoyed by the "keep zhem pubbers down, we're so fucking awesome because we've spent 10 minutes on vent/mumble and actually figured out to play 6v6!".
Regarding the rest:
I've seen this crap in 3 previous fortress-games, and in the end, some of them "noobpubbers" turns out to change the whole game around by thinking outside the box while some tiresome and old idiots try and block everything remotely new and gamealtering, just because they're too fucking stupid to cope with change. You'd also have to consider the AMOUNT OF WHINE these pricks can produce. Now, nothing like the sandman whine (which was INSANE) will probably happen again, considering the almost non-existant whine when the FAN was allowed (although the vote-cheating was kind of cool, albeit fruitless), so it would be very surprising if the TDH and Axe was NOT allowed.
It finally makes soldier what it should have been from the start.

wtf…seriously…the weapons are not balanced and thats all the thread is about. If you cant see that then its a good thing ur influence vanished a few month ago.
Yes piece, that’s exactly why. It was the same in Q3F when the devs changed a few things around as well. The items in question are not “overpowered”, they just make old “overpowered” items/styles obsolete/not overpowered anymore. It’s called progress and balancing.
So, you can “hahaha” all you want, it still doesn’t change facts. When you can’t just continue to do do the same repetitive stuff over and over again while “pwning” due to changes, it’s not because something is “broken” or “overpowered”. It’s because you’re stupid.
I fear some might lack the mental capacity required to grasp simple concepts such as this, though.

I see where you’re coming from, but I disagree in that it’s simply so black and white. Competition is defined by a comparison of relative skill (person A’s skill compared to person B). However, when certain items are introduced that completely nullifies the aspect of relative skill, and where the entirety of the outcome depends solely on person A’s performance, and not person B’s in the slightest (i.e. person B living or dying depends only if person A hits or misses), then it is no longer a matter of relative skill, and therefore I do not think it has a place in competition. Most of the time what crosses this border are weapons that do higher DPS within a 1-1.5 sec interval, and the damage presented isn’t negatable by the other player, meaning in-theory person A would win every time if he had perfect aim (obv. not the case, but it illustrates one of the points I think is important for having good competition).

gryzor, there are a few things that have no place in competition.
There shouldnt be 1 shot -> kill weapons. There shouldnt be a stun.
Its simple as that. Its all fine on pubs, but when it comes to competition there is no place for that. Read Berserkers post above he describes pretty good why that is.
Therefor u need to balance the weapons or ban them until they got fixed. And almost everyone agrees about the minicrits or the stun effect of the fan.
The banner is another issue but it needs to be tested more in pcws.
Its nnot about adapting its more about fair chances for every class in comp play.

Because it’s not adding something -more- powerful, it has it’s drawbacks, sure it might do more raw damage, but you gotta hit them direct, you gotta use different prediction, whatever
Gryzor’s got this nailed to be honest, +1 for him (though I still think current weapons need a slight balance change, not much, just a bit)
