Of course there is as CS and CoD can be played very individually and very team oriented. Pretty much every time you win a point in TF2 it is because, you killed the demoman or medic before they killed yours.
The thing people are forgetting about CS / CoD when comparing them to TF2 is that there isn’t really different classes like there is in TF2. In CoD4 theres smg & scope limit but the difference in the value of a pick isn’t going to change a whole lot unlike TF2 where obviously a medic pick is more valued than a scout pick.
I guess in the end there will always be unlocks that don’t make the game any better. Unlocks that need some work before they can be used. But to say that there aren’t any decent sidegrades that make the game more interesting (besides the medic) without making the game overly complex is just wrong.
We should not allow all unlocks because some of them are and will really hurt the game but we shouldn’t ban them all either. It requires effort and it will not be easy to determine wether or not an unlock should be banned. It’s easy to just go back to vanilla tf2 because you know it works (for the most part).
Personally I love the fact the updates have changed the way you can play the game. I’ve been playing low level competetive TF2 since I got into a clan a couple of years ago and love the changes that have been caused by the Kritzkreig and such.
Not having new weapons to play with would mean I, and I reckon others too, may have got a bit bored with it all, same old same old over and over again. New weapons = new ways to play = new stategies = more interest in the long run doesn’t it? Ok they may need a tweak or two but I think we can trust valve to sort it in time.
Learn to love the new things in your life or, stagnate in your own fetid pool of boringness.
Everyone here liked TF2 pre-updates, not everyone likes TF2 post-updates. Pretty fucking simple conclusion to me yo.

A simple solution – allow solly/demo unlocks if both teams ingame agrees on that!? It’s pretty much obvious for everyone right now that you can’t use The Sandman and you limit FaN to 1 anyways + this one.

I’d write a long winded post but I agree with alot of what vlad_drac said, and his post was long enough.
The further competitive TF2 gets away from Public TF2, the shorter the life of TF2 will be.
Players get bored, and leave and there will be no fresh blood to replace them.
TBH, the worst thing about TF2 for me is not OP weapons (I really don’t feel there are any, just players that refuse to adapt),
remove mini crits fronm TDH, or at least make it require a real airshot and we’re good to go, or just limit it to one, it’s not game breaking and as a scout i prefer fighting soldiers holding TDH, yes it may be different in the ‘PRO’ teams but meh, there are 10 of them and 300 low teams.
It is playing Badlands, and Granary over and over, FFS learn some other maps people please

Simple perhaps on the most superficial level. In reality nobody would practice with these weapons in mind, due to the uncertainty on whether they would get to use them or not, or whether you’d be facing them or not. Having your players unprepared to play with the normal rocket launcher for example would put you in a position of disadvantage. This in turn leads to the weapons being disallowed every game. This was the exact case with the sandman in the very first few weeks.

Haha well said tbh. Theres too much of the, “well pros said this so it must be true” kind of attitude around.
The game is evolving, evolve with it or find another imo. Promod is the reason I stayed away from cod4 comp scene, if it happens with tf2 I guess ill move on too, I just hope it doesnt because I wont be the only one.
= we use FaN, please don’t ban it
vs.
We don’t use FaN, please ban it.
…
Of course the team that uses a FaN is not going to want it banned because then they won’t be able to use it.
Of course the team that doesn’t use FaN is going to want it banned because well… why not? If you don’t use it, why let anyone else use it.

I kind of disagree with everything you just said.
People are getting more and more annoyed playing tf2 and we spend more time discussing which unlocks should be allowed than actually playing tf2 so it’s the other way around: competitive tf2 suffers from having unlocks. U say there are no overpowered weapons but still you propose a modification for the direct hit and you just assume Valve will listen to you.
U cannot just assume people will get bored of playing vanilla tf2, the game still evolves even without the unlocks. And if you get tired of playing badlands and granary all the time you have only yourself to blame: etf2l has a large map pool atm and it prolly will increase even more with obscure etc..
* and a pro-mod is the worst idea ever, I can already imagine the 100+ pages discussion about which settings and unlocks to be used

Wow that’s a really solid counter-argument. People are just out to dick you in the eye Arx. :D

dont really see what he posted as an arguement more pointing out that what was said was quite retarded.
Also are people wanting to get rid of unlocks because some of the weapons in this update are slightly too powerful ? or because they dont like the direction and additional ‘headache’ learning new things brings ?

Maybe U should actually read the arguments first before posting a retarded and useless comment.

You have the right to disagree, however, if my opponents pick badlands, or granary every match this is my fault how???
We got stuck last season with a lot of Badlands and granary, because we didn’t get to pick our own maps, if we had, we wouldn’t of picked either map once
I proposed a change to a weapon which not being a soldier i’d like, and tbh if there were no changes i still don’t see it being OP
