“not used” is just a poor strategy. Reducing or disabling falloff-damage is the way to go.
So do you stop making ridiculous suggestions for a weapon which will be banned or not used.
You know this how ? the fan was looked upon in the same way, it is now very frequently used and hasnt been banned. Go figure.
Anyway an update out, shame they didnt fix the +50% dmg (unless I missed that or its been ninja’d?).
Demomen got their EZmode sticky jump so they can stop whining, slight buff/nerf to boots, surely lowering self damage from all but hitting enemies will make building a bitch ? though I guess until the weapon is widely accessible it wont be in the league ?
Ban all except medic unlocks.

The weapon might be banned (therefore we do these “ridiculous suggestions”), but if not it will be used
+1 for atreides idea, dmg should be balanced but like the idea

Ignore Fragga. He wanted 154 dmg at any range with 100% splash.
Really? Find where I said that. I want the BB and TDH banned.
I think it is best to ban TDH, nobody seems to be happy with it. Most soldiers won’t use it with its current form anyway.
Ban all except medic unlocks.
Sadly I’m inclined to agree :( This game is developing further and further away from what I know and love as competitive TF2.
Part of my enjoyment in TF2 is the in-game tactical analysis; thinking about what the opposition team might do next. Even in vanilla TF2, at every CP on every competitively-played map, there’s numerous different tactical options for teams to make. This makes it enough of a challenge – an enjoyable amount of difficulty. It will literally ruin my enjoyment when some fucking spastic one-eyed black cunt with a 6ft sword and a tiny little shield comes rip-roaring through the house and minicrits me with his elongated phallic symbol. It will ruin my enjoyment when I jump a foot off the ground and the TDH mini crits me from the opposite end of the map. It already ruins my enjoyment when all of the non-FaN scouts I know get emo about playing versus FaN scouts because essentially all of the “good FaN scouts” are fucking shite without it.
The only thing I seem to have said on these forums in the past few months is, “we’ve worked so hard to bring competitive TF2 as far as it’s come, then we have to put up with this shit?”, where “this shit” can be any number of things, including the baseball bat and ball, the sword and shield, the buff banner…
I respect the fact that Valve are still working on the game, I really do. I especially respect the fact that they have, at points, worked in direct co-ordination with the competitive scene. I don’t however respect this latest batch of updates and the only thing they can do from my point of view to rectify it is to release a cvar which allows specific sets of unlocks to be banned. A numerical flagging system, q2 stylee, should be fairly easy: “sv_unlocks_disallowed 128”.
A little excerpt from a conversation a few of my non-competitive TF2 playing friends just had – and one I totally agree with:

I would also love to see all unlocks get banned (except medic unlocks maybe but then people will come with the argument : if you allow 1 unlock you have to allow them all).
These discussions about which unlocks to allow or to limit are so completely retarded. Even when an unlock is completely overpowered, some people will come up with arguments to not ban them because they are completely shit without them or because they feel the class they play is not up to par with the other classes.
If we keep continuing like this we will all have to make post-its with all the unlock limits and attach them to our monitors for the next season of etf2l. If you think about it, if these unlocks are really side-grades, why do people want to limit them? Imo Valve created these unlocks for publics.
Vanilla tf2 already has way more variety in it’s play style than most first-person shooters and there are good custom maps nowadays to mix it up even more.
why doesn’t someone make a poll on banning ALL unlocks for next season? then everyone is in the same boat.

Why do make a poll anyway? more then 75% of the votes are just useles and without any explanation why have he voted that way.
I do hope that Valve makes the last update on engie and that’s it, but from the other side – it’ll become VERY monotonous in a year or two. Never ending badlands and granary without new updates, everyone has calmed down, noones argueing about anything related to the game and eventually – game dies. If the game wouldn’t have class updates from the begining – we would have got accustomed to that, but as it is now – players are waiting for updates after some period.

Yeah but my point is it’s getting to the stage where there’s so many fucking ridiculous weapons with special abilities that you can’t practice against them. It’s similar to having 12 competitively played maps, teams just aren’t going to develop properly if they have to contemplate *so* many tactical variations.
CS and CoD4 work well because there’s a few variations but not too many. Vanilla TF2 was like that too. Once you put too much stuff in, it just gets past a joke.
