Soldier Weps, Overpowered or not?

so which weapon should valve give the medics, that they also can be “game-deciding”? ;)

isn’t the “healing-gun” with his uber “game-deciding”?

yea but then the class which is the “bodyguard” of the medic should be “game-deciding”
as well

who said the soli is the bodygard of the medic..we just made him the bodygard..cause scouts and demo’s were better in attack…now thay are more even!

Remove the mini-crits from the direct hit and then allow it. The direct hit is more situational than the original rocket launcher. If a soldier or two choose to use the direct hit then they are choosing to be more situational. In a spamfight the original rocket launcher is much better but in other situations the direct hit is better. The weapon trades the original’s versatility for more situational power. The soldier has always been a class that has been useful in any situation but not as useful as other classes, this brings some new life to the class.

The equalizer is a straight buff to the soldier class. I can understand this being banned but I don’t think we should get too fussed over it. I would be quite sad to see this banned because soldiers have always been very reliant on a medic. This allows them to survive better without a medic.

The gunboats are hardly anything to worry about. Most soldiers will not give up their shotgun for them. I recon they should be able to be earned through the rocket jump achievement. That way if demomen were given them aswell, they could be earned by their sticky jump achievement. Even as they are, they should not be banned.

The buff banner is seriously over powered and I don’t be surprised if it is banned. This is an extremely fun weapon to use in pubs but too powerful in the hands of a decent team. I hope that valve alter its buff to be fun in pubs and not overpowered in competetive play. I like the idea of it increasing the fire rate instead of causing mini-crits. The difference between this and jarate is that someone who has been hit by jarate has a chance to retreat to safety.

totally agree with that. we just tried buff banner in a pcw and easily countered a ubercharge. if u got the buff banner and uber there’s no point for the enemy team. even if they got the charge all the noncharged players will die quickly. but its really interesting to play with it and makes the game more interesting. at least its gonna be limited to 1. tdh is a great weapon after the big middlefight. think it depens on the gameplay of the soldier if he should equip it or not. i wouldnt use it on any middlefight because of the importance of spam but especially on defending points on a higher ground its really great to use. agree with boots there wont be used imo. equalizer: great idea but a bit OP. its to easy to escape or ninja, doing to much damage and the speedbuff is to big.

the scout would just be useless if he stays with the medic and the demo cant defend the medic against two enemy scouts

yeah right..he is prolly the best in garding the medic…so he stays on the medics side…or close by
but with the dh he can be as deadly as the scout or demo..whats so wrong with this idea`’?

I think I’d like to see the TDH get a 5 or 6 rocket clip to make up for the lack of splash and less of a direct hit buff, to avoid 1 shotting scouts. Mini crits need sorting with height and/or time in air deciding if you get the crit or not.

Bugle seems slightly OP for competetive, uber plus mini critz = mighty amounts of doom. Make rage harder to achieve maybe.

Boots….meh, not worth losing the shotty for.

Equaliser = great. Exactly what the solly has needed, now he can get away from losing fights instead of almost automatic death with no medic, great.

I almost feel the equaliser does a little bit too much damage though. I also don’t think that should one shot people, it’s a bit like when you play on a public server, you mercilessly destroy someone and just as you’re about to land the finishing blow, they desperately mash the keyboard, whip out the melee, start swinging and of course they always get a crit.

That’s what the equaliser always feels like to me when i get killed by it, a random crit like on a public server. I reckon 90 damage would be balanced for it, that’s still a lot of damage plus the speed.

Technically cheating. Also I tried locking and unlocking the milestones, to get dupes for crafting. It didn’t work. Worth a try though maybe.

Base damage of other melee weapons is 65, so 90 isn’t that much. Max damage should below 150 though, 1-shotting medics is bad.
