sP.

-10% damage.
+80% speed.
-50% splash.

Are you fucking kidding me? That would be even more OP, then it is now, it would be deadly to shoot a rocket twice as fast and with a splash damage at all, not talking about 50% lol!

Does this debate do anything to actually change TDH? Don’t think so, just QQ’s and some crazyass ideas, maybe just ban the loadout function for 6v6 and play with regular, oldschool weps? You would start to whine about how monotone the game is and you would never be satisfied about any class updates, unlocks or upgrades… Why Valve even tries to do anything, if it ends with million replys about how Valve sux, about OP unlocks etc…

Mini crits break it. The guys I kill here ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQLBfG3OMVI ) are full health or close to it. Normal rl wouldn’t have done this.

LOL. What a video :DD

They’re HOPPING at you, one at a time, in a straight line when you have a DH?

That’s like recording a video where half the enemy team walks into a sticky trap and then calling sticky traps gamebreaking. It happens, it’s devastating, but it relies on a big mistake.

Just because there are people who don’t know how to counter it doesn’t mean it’s OP.

DH has huge pros and huge cons. It gives you insane streaks, but it also can leave a scout alive with full hp and your medic dead. It’s just a very inconsistent weapon IMO.

It might be more powerful in 6v6, it might be less powerful. I’m not sure yet, but what I can say is that the game isn’t broken with it.

No offense, but i don’t know how counter the effects of this update/TDH/etc. Please explain us or I think it’ll be better to test it in serious conditions than just link to each other some public videos and/or their limited observations in f*cking looooong comments. Its more likely a political campaign and its not really help to the league admins in their “what we should do with the update stuff” meetings (if they have). Organize a cup or something to test it, but perhaps ESH Nightcup will be good for testing. Leastwise I hope.

If he’s alone, send a scout and it’ll be a walk in the park. If he’s not, send a demo that can just spam the corner. If you HAVE to 1v1 with soldiers (should be avoided regardless of the weapon selections), then just try to use corners to your advantage and spam with splash damage.

For slightly slow people:
The point of all this isn’t so that valve will listen to every single word everyone says, it’s so the european comp community can work out a common belief about the new changes and report back to valve on what we think as (hopefully) one voice. Who knows more about the intricacies of the game than the comp players?

So far the only thing i think almost everyone agrees on is that “there should be no reward for hitting shots that are easier to hit.” – In relation to crits, that is. The logic being that it’s MUCH harder to hit airshots with the old rocket launcher, so why do they give crits to TDH? (Don’t mistake your familiarity with the old rl for ‘how easy it is to airshot’)

There’s a movement towards “rockets shouldn’t 1-shot people” as well, but that’s nowhere near unanimous.

Maybe thats because the update is out for 3 days? Did you know what to do vs Sentry Nests at Dustbowl 3 days after you started playing?

TDH seems to be a pretty hit or miss weapon. In time I doubt it will make it’s way into the default 6v6 setup. Why take the risk when the original rocket launcher works perfectly, whilst somewhat limited. You either completely annahilate the opposition or they do the same to you. I can see teams sometimes choosing TDH maybe to defend badlands spire or maybe on well to deal with the open spaces.

What I’m really excited about is the other unlocks. The equalizer is hardly OP. It gives the soldier a little more survivabilty without his medic. Very useful I imagine for making a swift retreat. The buff banner is interesting. It charges based on damage so it seems that you can build it up by spamming their choke. Controlled spam can earn you a buff that might be all you need to clean up the mid fight. The gunboats are fine for those who don’t bother using the shotgun or building up a BB. Even after killing 400 demos for the war I think that perhaps they would have been better given to the demoman.

Fingers crossed for soldier giving demo gunboats as a christmas present.

I stopped playing dustbowl.
Guns are not op.

Probably not, but people don’t want to be ezmode instagibbed by it.

demomen claiming the soldier weapons are overpowwered, the irony is so thick you could choke on it – nothing in TF2 is remotely close to the sticky launcher in terms of power and versatility – your point is mute.

TDH is crap, Pick is awesome

Isn’t the reason valve implemented the mini-crits on midairs that they wanted pub players to actually try midairs? Most of them seem to me like they never even thought of midair shots.

I’d argue Equalizer as more OP than TDH. This is due to it being a straight upgrade, having crazy damage and giving a low soldier close to scout speed. This allows a soldier who launches, fires some shots and eats a rocket to take out his equalizer and one-shot the nearest enemy. It’s a comeback weapon allowing a soldier who shouldn’t win a fight to win it, very similar to how crits work except it’s consistent every time the soldier is about to die.

Additionally if you have a soldier at, say, 100 hp standing near an enemy, he will be able to RJ, quickswitch mid-air to equalizer and escape a situation where he should’ve otherwise died due to his stupidity. I can appreciate increasing survivability, but an escape mechanism that rivals scouts’ as a heavy class is amusing. And in addition it offers one-shotting capabilities.

I’d say it either needs to be toned down drastically if it is not to be given a drawback, or it needs some penalty for the ones using it to, yet again, discourage general use but give it a defined purpose.

what the hell gave you that idea? pub players dont even know what happened when you airshot them. besides, i wouldnt be able to do it on a thousand interp either

But why do they need to be both as effective in airshotting? The idea of sidegrades is that unlocks are better in certain areas then the other weapons.

because of the more damage on direct hit, it will be still more effective on airshots, so whats the matter with the minikritz then?
