I think the DH’s rocket speed might be a bit exagerrated but it works fine. Get the damage fixed, minicrits on airshots removed, and instagibbing 7/9 classes when they’re 1 mm off the ground fixed, and it would be great!

tell me, because im confused (as I already think the stock RL is better) why after reducing the damage and removing the mini-crits the weapon would be great [!] and by that I mean “organized” scrims not pubs.

With great, I meant (somewhat) balanced. I merely pointed out a few things that are bugged as it is right now, time will tell if it’s really a viable option for comp.

I think the stock RL is better in most cases as well, but that doesn’t mean TDH is useless.

Been playing this in bball alot today. My 2 cents:

Its just a nice new element, not in the slightest OP unless its 1v1.

Also, did a bit of checking earlier and heres what ive found. There was alot of fuss about people complaining a solly could get to mid faster than a scout with the Pickaxe, not the case:

Standard soldier run speed: 240units/sec
Demoman: 280units/sec
Medic/Sniper: 320units/sec
Scout: 400units/sec

The speed you run at increases by 40HP increments, so:

200HP or lower = 240units/sec
160HP or lower = 264Units/sec
120HP or lower = 288Units/sec
80HP or lower = 336Units/sec
40HP or lower = 384Units/sec

In other words, you will never go faster than a scout.

With this splash radius, of course TDH should 1-shot a scout with a direct hit because if it is not a direct hit but very close, it only deals like 10-20hp. Why should I need 2 accurate shots to kill a scout with TDH? Since their firing rates are the same, I can do the same with RL much easily at the same time by splash damage without even worrying about accuracy at all.

TDH damage should remain the same imo. Minicrits removed. If any change in splash damage is made it should be at the expense of rocket speed but at the moment it doesn’t seem at all necessary.

Remaining as it is just now minus the minicrits makes TDH a distinct sidegrade from the normal rocket launcher. Increasing splash radius will only serve to reduce that distinction and make it more of an upgrade or downgrade instead of a sidegrade.

Well it depends what you mean by problem. It could radically change the mid battle as the soldier can get a med kit as soon as he gets to mid and be there faster than a scout with decent health. This isn’t really a problem though, just something worth thinking about hence why gibbz pointed it out.

Umm..What’s your point? It takes the same amount of time to kill a scout by hitting him with 1 rocket from either rocketlauncher + shotgun finish off. The only difference is that the DH makes it a much harder shot compared to using the splash damage off the normal rl. For it to be a viable side grade , it should have an advantage the normal rl doesn’t have, which is its damage at close range by getting a direct. If it takes the same amount of time to kill targets with both launchers, then whats the point in using the rocketlauncher that you actually have to have a direct hit with? Cause its fun to have a challenge?

I think the damage is fine. I just think the minicrit needs fixing. Sure, it sucks to be 1 shotted but you gotta remember that you’re taking a risk by jumping infront of a soldier to kill him/his medic And it’s not that easy to get a direct on a good scout anyway imo.

It’s not. The soldier would arrive with almost an empty clip to mid since you have to hurt yourself in the beginning, also you cant reload on the way because it makes you go normal speed. Taking the medpack would be stupid since the demoman needs it more.
