So, what are my team meant to do now the rosters are locked?

On the 22nd, as expected, the rosters for ETF2L have become locked. I’m very curious what ETF2L would like my team to do about this. As it stands we are down to 3 players, 1 player who is very much a backup, and one player who doesn’t play TF2 any more (but hasn’t actually left the team). For our next league match I will naturally be trying to get all 5 of this registered players on, but that means at best, I can only do 5v6.
Realistically speaking, I have 3 players who are very much up for playing, and a further 3 players who are very interested in joining my team. As it stands at the moment, I’m playing these matches with whoever I get, be it 6v3. The rules may be against this, but the rules put us in this position.
For those who are going to quickly jump in with “you should have thought about this earlier” yes, we did think about this earlier. We’ve been trialing for a few weeks now. However, just look at our team history, we lost our last players a day before the deadline with no warning from these players whatsoever. Anyone who’s had the joy of leading a team knows how fast people make this decisions

I’m sure they’ll allow an exception in this case, I think it’s more to stop last minute shuffles which aren’t necessary and could’ve waited till the end of the season.
Feel for you man, while I can’t really help i still wish you the best of luck.
I have, though we haven’t come to much agreement other than “If you can’t get 5, you have to default” with the odd hope that the opposing team lets us play with 1/2 ringers. Hopefully they won’t mind, even if it has to be a div 6 ringer :)

I think you being forced to either default or play with three is farcical.
I’d rather play a proper match against you even if it means half of your team is composed of ringers. This rule was put in place to stop BS like Div 1 players joining lower teams to help them stomp the opposition, not punish teams that have no desire to fold despite tough roster issues.
Hopefully everything is sorted out to everyone’s satisfaction. Default hunting can stay in CS, I don’t play in a league to get free wins.
We’ve always enjoyed playing you full-strength and had some great games in the past. It’s a real shame to see things go so far downhill that you can barely get half a team together.
I hope you manage to find some players and we can have a good match, as neither a default nor the prospect of playing 3 people is something any of us in Vertex want :)

Default hunting is majorly bum-hole-tastic! Hate it.

Slightly offtopic here, but are they locked until the end of season, or until you’ve played your final game? Just wondering whether I’ll be needing to contact an admin for some lineup changes at the end of -our- season

Surely after your last game you won’t actually need to add more people?
Make exceptions…
Cycles, please can you let me know the outcome of this situation. I agree with your argument and I have a similar problem (although totally un-related to rosters). If an exception to this rule is made for the sake of common sense and all round mutual benefit, I’d very much like to know.
Although I haven’t heard back from admins on the forum yet, I’m pretty sure that we can deal with this to help Cycles’s team and teams like them.
Like someone posted above, they’re clearly not in violation of the spirit of the rule. Where people come to us with a good attitude and decent argument, we’re of course willing to listen.

We have our reasons
