yeah, it should be allowed in the next season, and as you say. changing rules in the middle of two competitions is stupid. good point
I think i’ll give this one a try out in the next pickup im in….. which will probably be to the disgusted shouts of “awww FFS us the uber NOOB” etc. With the right soldier and medic combo this could be epic :D
I played medic in a pickup using the Kritz.
We won Badlands 6-1 with probably a weaker lineup.
The only thing about testing the Kritzkrieg is:
1) You need to test Kritz vs Kritz gameplay, see if its rubbish (though I doubt it would be).
2) Kritz vs Uber, even if they are balanced, the Kritzkrieg team would have an advantage for a few weeks/months as to play against a Kritzkrieg you have to use a slightly different play style (its hard to see when it’s activated and you might have to ubercharge at a time when you would normally consider yourself safe (a sudden crit comes in)).
To be hounest though, it doesn’t need pre-testing. You just allow it until there is a reason to ban it (Massively overpowered? Makes game rubbish?).
Obviously you want consistency for the current competitions but I can’t see a reason not to allow it for next season, and ban it later if needed.
Played 3 pickups last night where our medic wanted to use Krub3r, (cheers Kodyl <3) Anyway it is a different ball game with it.
From what i’ve gathered is it requires more precision and thought as to what you go for and try and kill as
a) Your not protected when u’ve been krub3red
b) Your medic ain’t invicible either
Yet its quicker to get the krub3r by about 12 seconds than normal uber… so its a give and take sort of risk. I.e. on one hand your giving away your invicibility for 10 seconds but at the same time you have the power to kill everything in sight. But the catch is that you’ve got to actually aim alot better and be more precise as if you don’t end up say killing the heavy crew or the medic the momentum is immediately switched and you could end up losing 2/3/4 cp points.
I played with it on and off during 1 30min match last night was good, from what i’ve figured out atm if your good at protecting your medic than your team will have a biiiiiig advantage with krub3r, if not then ub3r is the way to go….
One thing i like about this krub3r is that you can’t just switch onto the next player it takes around two seconds for it to start working onto the next player the medic has switched on to… and by then theres not much left of it.
Will be interesting as to what leagues will decide on the ruling for krub3r :D
Cheers

I think the Kritzkrieg shouldn’t be banned as its not a random event, but a weapon which requires planning to be used; it gives a bit of diversity to the gameplay and a chance to develop new tactics. Also remember the crits don’t stay when you switch off the target(you can test it yourself).
Anyone who’s played medic at least once in a pcw, you know it gets boring after a while of the constant heal/uber/heal/die/respawn/repeat with the occaional syringe/bonesaw kill. A bit of action would be welcomed.
Kritzkrieg allowed in upcoming competitions: http://etf2l.org/2008/07/31/kritzkrieg-allowed-in-upcoming-competitions/
Nicey, perhaps were gonna see some kritzkrieg action then!
Bit surprised it’s been approved already for next season after less than 2 days testing. As it’s ready about 10 seconds before an uber, a Krubered demoman/solly can take a whole team quite easily :o
