Valve supposedly fixed the bug this fix is for a year ago.
nothing stops froggen ddos
SeriousCat just explained “DNS reflection attack” to me. There is no plugin, that can prevent this kind of attack.
Also, the plugin I linked above is broken.

They did. Also, it wasn’t my plugin, but a firewall rule Ronny and me tested.
Currently it looks like someone just floods certain gameservers with a DNS reflection attack http://blog.cloudflare.com/deep-inside-a-dns-amplification-ddos-attack. A plugin or firewall rule is not going to help.
Things that might help:
– inform your provider, that you expect DNS reflection attacks. He may increase the upload of the server, to be able to discard all the useless traffic arriving
– tell all participating players to
– set their steam profile to private
– go offline on steam
– and set hide_server 1

Jason Bourne would be proud.
just quickie – using hide_server 1 in server.cfg is not recommended if ur planning on playing lobby as ppl wont be able to join server (it will show offline and not connect to it)
What’s the protection on byte’s server, he mentioned hardware?
Do we really have to go back to hiding all the servers again cos some kids are mad somewherr.
ddossers only follow byte
