I do understand the game on a pretty descent level.
Then why are you in div6.

1. I referred to the NA-scene being not fine with unlocks, idiot.
2. Ehm, yeah, ok, I didn’t think along those line, but fine.
3. No, I already wrote, that playing ESL this season seems boring and stale to me. If I didnt bother, I wouldnt be writing all those words in this thread.
4. First you say: we cant allow any, because even one will open the floodgates. And in the very next sentence you say, that kritz is fine. Soooo…yeah…
5.+6. Never said anything about better. But I do understand the game on a pretty descent level.
1+2 ok
3 think outside the box if you find ESL rules boring, if your only way to fix this is by throwing in an unlock then I pity you
4 kritz is considered, as someone said on the locked thread, a part of vanilla. sooo…. yeah….
5+6 no. also, what skyride the badmin said above me.

3. This argument goes both ways. Look:
think outside the box if you find etf2l rules annoying, if your only way to fix this is by banning all unlocks then I pity you
5+6. Because I never have put time and energy to get to higher divs. In most cases that would mean abandoning your team and joining a better one. Or kicking people of your team to replace them with more skilled players. I dont want to do either, because I dont like both options. Just look at my team-history and compare it to yours.
I play for fun and social interaction. Winning is a nice bonus, so is getting promoted, but I dont quit teams and I dont kick people because of their skill. So yeah, I am ok with playing div6, if it means playing with mah buddies.
forgot nr. 4.
ok, kritz, sanvich, equi, c&d and bonk are part of my vanilla.

Meh.
Just make it vanilla + medlocks and let it stay that way :)
People just can’t seem to get the fact that tf2 needs a proper rule standart atm for it to get bigger.
ALSO
more unlocks =/= more tactics.
In fact most of the new unlocks just make a already made up strat easier to perform (say sandvich, bonk and the equaliser).
There are of course unlocks that imo add something new and actully don’t brake some mechanics and/or decrease the skill level needed to play this game (say mini sentry, degreaser, ambassador, flare gun, cross bow), but i could easily live with out them for now untill the scene gets a stable rule-set.

At the risk of being silenced by an admin again, I’ll elaborate on my previous post.
After i42 it seems the enthusiasm for implementing vanilla + medlocks has increased massively in popularity so it might be worth revisiting the issue.
A lot of teams are informally agreeing to use the rules for officials anyway, so it’s at least worth discussing the idea of formalising them.
Some people are new to the idea and don’t check the forums everyday, which is why I have raised the point again.
Edit by aforementioned admin: Thanks :)
Go away and stop posting the same bullshit over and over again, it’s getting rather tiresome (for all of you).
Bye.

I’m sorry and I don’t want to sound elitist or anything but all of you div 6 folks need to calm down and understand that although you have the right to express your opinion, it will never be as worthy as someone that is in div 2/1/prem, etc. (Not saying people in higher divisions don’t give completely shit opinions either).
If you had a “good understanding” of the game, like you claim to have you wouldn’t be playing div 6.
This argument is going to come down to 2 options if the general mindset doesn’t change:
Either etf2l enforces vanilla and allows players to play cinnamon if they so prefer
OR
etf2l doesn’t do anything and the league stays the way it is with the top divisions looking like utter trash.
etf2l won’t die, no. The lower divisions will make sure that doesn’t happen with pub players coming in everyday thinking that comp is funny since they can use all their shitlocks.
Please don’t pull the “it’s harder to adapt to vanilla if you’re new and it doesn’t attract players” or “shitlocks add diversity to the game”. Unlocks are made for pubs, by pub players and they have no place in a competitive environment, DEAL WITH IT. Want to play with shitlocks? play pub, hf. If you want to play competitive then do so with the appropriate ruleset. Just because the majority wants something doesn’t mean you should give it to them. And that’s exactly where etf2l failed, HARD when they enforced cinnamon.
Every time I mention the game to people I know that played other games competitively (cs, cod4, whatever) and they try it all I hear is people asking me why the game has such shitty unlocks and if there is any way they can play the game without having weapons that lower the skill ceiling and make the game way easier.
tl;dr:
Man up, enforce vanilla, deal with the crybaby shitlock lovers and make the game the way it should be played so it can finally be known as an esports and not a joke.

It’s so fucking tiring to see same shit all over again. If going vanilla makes everyone shut the fuck up about this, then for fucks sake, go vanilla, fuck cinnamon, mid-top players get happy, screw everything else.
It’s like diarrhea, shit keeps coming out until you whack a magic pill to stop it. At this rate, since vanilla is basically getting screamed across the Grand Canyon, vanilla is your magic pill to stop this shitstorm.
Seeing as the community is already split, and there’s absolutely no way of patching things together without saying “oh you no vanilla, div6 shitnerd” (maybe there is, but hey, who the fuck here cares anyway), just go vanilla and keep the teams begging for it happy. Maybe we’ll have less of this crap on forums.
I don’t mean to be so harsh in my words, but to be frankly honest, seeing this argument crop up so many times, trying to put forward unbiased views without looking like an elitist and generally met with “l2p” remarks from people at the top just really shows that although TF2 can be considered an eSport, it is basically the same scene as the CSS community whining and griping about silly things.
HERE’S A PLAN!!!
Everyone take on cinnamon or anything else, top tier can boycott and QQ all they want…
Then we boycott the top tier :D We won’t spec their games, join ESH cups or anything.
Top TF2 dies then get replaced by people that give a shit about the game, regardless of what unlocks they have to play with.
TF2 then grows back with a new top tier, ESH games etc. Then maybe, we can have some exciting games like NA does.

actually we should do that.

That is, no offence, the dumbest idea I’ve heard in my life. The top tier is what makes TF2 an esport. It won’t grow back, that’s why the interest in ‘pandering’ to the desires of the higher level players. They matter because they control the direction of TF2 as an esport. Nobody wants to watch me drop 23 ubers in one match, it’s not entertaining, gotta understand that the higher level you play at, the more say you have. It works like that in every sport.
Also, as for a gentleman’s agreement on cinnamon, I don’t think it would work. Teams which learn to play vanilla would simply stop other teams using cinnamon because it would give them a large advantage. This stems from the basic theory that people are pricks :D Just enforce a rule and be done with it, I think, after reading everything, vanilla is the way to go, it’s easy to enforce and won’t make much difference, but will appease a lot of people.
Or let’s just put ALL OUR FUCKING DIFFERENCES ASIDE AND STOP GIVING A SHIT so we can FINALLY start playing the game?
What I don’t get is why vanilla players complain.
Most of them told me that throwing piss around gives no tactical advantage whatsoever. Therefore, by your logic, cinnamon = vanilla, but with more weapons which don’t add any new tactics at all, but are there for variety and no specific reason. Furthermore, why can’t vanilla teams just play vanilla, while cinnamon teams play cinnamon. So a battle cinnamon vs. vanilla TECHNICALLY, judging by what some players have explained to me, should be equal.
Then why so much QQ over a jar of piss and a pickaxe?
