How about changing the map times?

after reading Telebears troll post on vanilla, I couldn’t help but to think about speeding the game up and shortening map time. I think it would be a great idea, and that we should really consider it. TF2 is exciting to play as it is, but this doesn’t mean we can attempt to make it more exciting for either us or spectators. Just thought that this thought needed more than just a sentence in a troll post where people pay attention to other things he says…

Even if it would be arguably more interesting for spectators I think 30 minutes would still be more a appropriate map time if you consider the time rounds take.
Worst…idea…ever.
Rounds on Obscure and Freight already take 15-20 minutes. Maybe come back with suggestions if you have played the game a bit more.

Obscure sucks, and golden caps are the best part of the game. The limited time. The feeling of having to win that round. Imo 30 minutes is too much. You have too much time to push back. It should be quick and fun to play. Creating rounds where you have to push without uber or run a different route to be able to win.

That seems great! and also Koeitje, if you have so much more experience than I do then why don’t you say why it’s a bad idea, you seem to know. Just saying it’s bad isn’t good enough for me.

When i read Koeitje’s post i can see that he explained why its a bad idea.
Hell, I’ve seen badlands and granary rounds go on for 20 minutes. At a decent level people don’t overextend all the time and get wiped from the map.

If timelimits were dropped though, they’d have to make those risky plays though, arguably
Could we get a cup with timelimit 20 and see how it goes? Play maps we know are fast (viaduct? :o), and some we know are “slow”, like freight, see how it works out.
Actually testing a timelimit > discussing it.

Personally I would like to have timelimit 20 and windiff lowered slightly, I would -assume- it would make the game faster and more -fun-, and I haven’t even thought about how it’d be for spectators yet! But it has to be tested

Most funcups are played with a timelimit of 20 or even less because the teams take so much time to organize :3
S9 will consist of BB vs Epsilon on cp_badlands, winlimit 1 timelimit 0 and nothing else.

americans are overated. Could try an timelimit of an hour and no windiff, See how the teams play after the first 30 mins.. Could be interesting.. or not..
