its too vertical for comp, by that I mean its basicly 5 areas with the same was in, ways out, hidden areas. heck even mid and both 2nds are basicly the same as each other (bridges). Before you say the others are like that, they have different methods of reaching the point and different attacking areas, your looking 360 when capping instead of 180 on 5gorge

I cant see its value for comp play, however its a better map then the original 3cps

I still want snakewater

No. Not even if fan was allowed and you could easily jump on the balcony.

If 5gorge was in the game at the start instead of granary you’d all be playing it now.

Definately no.

That you have only 1 way to push from mid to 2nd is enough on it’s own to reject the map.

It needs some serious rework as a whole to work as a 5cp map. To start with, middle is a horrible idea, a point surrounded by high ground gives low incentive to actualy get on the point. Instead, that should be the last point, kind of like the original gorge, but it needs adjustments to make attacking it easier and to make pushing out again possible.

The point that is now last should be reworked and be the new middle point with a new concept. Overall it is obvious that it was made as A/D, it is really wide with some huge sightlines, lots of corners etc. to hide. The way the whole layout is works is for pushing in one direction.

Are we still playing well? No, because it doesn’t work as good as Badlands or Granary. 5gorge is far worse, so no, we wouldn’t still be playing it.

Why is a point surrounded by high ground considered bad again? I never got that argument. granary is surrounded by high ground, well isn’t surrounded by high ground, fastlane isn’t surrounded by high ground, badlands is semi-surrounded by high ground. I really doubt that is what makes a point bad. It’s a combination of different factors that makes middle bad but it sure isn’t being surrounded by high ground.

Randdalf, there’s another 5cp map that was included in the game’s release that we don’t play anymore. I don’t think that’s the reason they don’t want to play 5gorge. I do agree that granary isn’t really that great of a map though.

In the case of Granary it works, because getting control of the crates gives you control of the whole area, and the enemy team has to take the fight and jump back on you or fall out.

On Badlands it works, because the whole area is designed tight enough that the spam fight can’t last too long, and there are enough possibilities to attack the enemy team from.

Both maps don’t reward being defensive on mid a whole lot, and once you backed off a bit, you can’t easily get back inm unlike in yukon for example, where you can hang out on your side.

On gorge, you can hang out on the high ground, there are minimal ways to flank or even attack you there, and you can just spam the point as long as you please.

Highground around the point is not the only factor, that’s true, but it’s one of the main factors. If the point were on high ground, there would be incentive to push on it, since that would give your team the positional advantage.

Yes, but having to think about wether or not you should go on point rather than just jump on it regardless of enemy team position or how many they have alive is not a bad thing. It’s different and as you stated yourself it’s a combination of factors but a point surrounded by high ground is not inherently bad.

It’s just a lot more complicated than that, i think on of the main factors is still the low roof above the catwalks, the fact that the entire point is located inside including the entire route to 2nd and the fact that the catwalks are narrow and have railings just adding to the annoyance when you have something that narrow. There’s also the area below point that is just a deathtrap because there is no easy way out.
