Golden Cap Rule

The GC rule that states after 10 mins the team holding mid CP wins sucks, straight up. As well as being a stupid way of deciding who wins, it also gives the same kind of advantage to teams holding fourth as would a round advantage in normal play with nothing being done to have deserved it (that advantage being, the team who holds fourth will win if time runs up so can play it very slow, force the other team to take risks etc etc).
Imo a better thing to do would be to have a second round after that 10 minutes, the winner of the match being the team that caps mid first. This way teams are always playing for the same thing, and it doesn’t take much longer than the current rule.
Not yet encountered this situation, but it is indeed the same sportsman tactics as 2 heavies.
But i think your suggestion will overcomplicate the rules beyond sillyness.

Timelimit 0, Winlimit 1

Also let’s just abandon 5cp and play 1cp maps, the guy above me makes a good point.

The map’s already gone on for 30 minutes, the round could go on for a looong time, potentially. This was FB/YYT’s first map, so imagine playing two more maps after that.
Anyway, Kaidus, your idea sounds great. I like it.
Way back during the 5th cup we had to play a golden cap on gullywash, we thought that as it’s a golden cap (capping the point) that it was whoever capped mid first would win.
We then allowed them to cap the rest of the points now knowing this after losing mid :DDDD
But I have always thought about the situation that kaidus speaks of but never really thought of it as a realistic happening.

Personally, I think the whole GC rule is lame, GC should involve a won round, I understand the frustration of how it currently is, I fucking hate running a tactic of “LETS HOLD MID” or “Great, they’re not going to move…”
It would also take away alot from a team that did actually bother to try and take middle back, especially with time ticking theres a game on the line – thats if they were to bother trying if this rule was placed into the system.
I don’t agree with your rule suggestion, but I am indeed in agreement that it requires a rethink and change.

I though the 10 minute rule encouraged people to be a bit more attacking, since you want to be holding an advantage – but I see your point that people could just hold 4 and turtle around.
having gc on playoffs is stupid
Personally, I’d rather see an extension on the map, ie; an extra ten minutes to be played. Obviously, played as normal, not a golden cap.

GC meaning “golden cap” could b used as is. If no team caps, play another 10 min. Ergo, one team has to cap the last point to win, that would make teams go for the caps instead of the time wasting.

Also, realisticaly the times this will take longer then 10 minutes will be a few and far in between. It also totally nullifies the opporunity to turtle mid.

No, thats not the same thing. 10min then another 10min is much better, because then one team can wipe the other team on mid and go for the win. If you have timelimit 0 both become careful and we see stalemate for 30min because none of the teams wanna risk anything.
