Didn’t I see a post on here saying there hadn’t been a pixel2 pickup for two days, or maybe even more?

At least you can get a few lobbies played in an afternoon.

Granted the best bet is mixing/mercing/trialling with other teams but that isn’t always possible now is it, especially at the start of the season. I’m not sure many teams would be happy to trial a totally new player when week1 matches have to be played by next Sunday.

Practice, practice, practice etc.

Personally, i never played pickups due to how much i hate irc. I spent like 3 months learning on my class (medic) on lobbies then made the move to a team. But the others are correct lobbies are pointless when it comes to teamwork and such.
If your realistic in your recruitment drive ie looking in the lower divisions you should find a team that will play constantly and strive to improve. I know from the short time ive been in my current team that playing pcw’s has made a world of difference to me personally.

lobby > pub play, the more you play the better, where ever you can find a game

Sounds interesting. What happens there? Is it mixed matches, or do you mean like, dedicated class practice sessions?

Also, whatever happens, don’t let ragers put you off TF2. Some people in pickups etc. can be jerks to newbies, but don’t take that as representative of the community as a whole.

Nahh, I know the tf2 community is more bark than bite. I don’t mind people doing that in random pickups. But my etf2l experience has been really positive so far!
