I got into comp because I like the gameplay of when i bought it and people who have been playing over 2years are good at that game fuck dem noobs using shit weapons and owning us.

Like the majority.
Only buff banner has a surprise element that comes close to that of the kritzkrieg.
Well, I do want to see how the gloves pan out in comp play. They prob need some tweaking, but I hope to see the HWG back in tf2.
Quoted from Monkeh
Keep: All Medic, Equalizer, Sandvich, Cloak and Dagger, Backburner, Flare gun, Jarate, KGB, Bonk Drink and Axtinguisher.
Ban: All others. Especially Natascha, FAN, Wrangler, Direct Hit and Buff Banner.
The only reason Backburner stays is because it would only be used to mock opponents that don’t spot flanking pyro’s? Cause I don’t see any reason why you would ever use it otherwise.

Well spotted, however just because there are extremes within a category it doesn’t negate the other’s impact.

What I don’t get is all this harking on about “continuity makes for a better game”. A good player should be able to adapt to new situations
The crucial detail is are those new situations subject to some skill and intelligence (like using kritz) or do they reward idiots (like natasha)? If you want to kill a competitive game, stick a bunch of crap in it that rewards mongs.

In my opinion very, very few of the unlocks actually bring new dimensions to gameplay. Most of them (e.g fan, natascha) are plain irritating and are only used to troll. They don’t really make the game more dynamic.
Success in comp TF2 should lie pretty much solely on tactics and teamwork, not on whether the other team decides to go PANICDOUBLENATACHAHEAVY whenever things aren’t going well.

If you genuinely think that natascha doesn’t bring a different dynamic to the game in forcing you to change the way you play, I suggest you gb2d6.
What dynamic does natascha bring? It makes kills so much easier, you barely have to aim.
Just because it brings about a change in the way you have to play, doesn’t mean that change is needed/wanted.

Running a heavy at all changes a match a fair bit. You can’t have a different strategy for fighting against a natascha heavy from a regular heavy. The ONLY way natascha’s presence affects gameplay is that it makes the user more annoying and slightly more difficult to deal with than a reg. heavy.
Like I said, it’s used to troll or just as a cop-out.

A natascha heavy changes EVERYTHING. The passive slow makes missing IMPOSSIBLE, so it makes the skill curve even less, so even a noob can do damage.
The slow not only affects the player who plays the heavy but the rest of his team. A good spread on the gun against a combo of players and they all get slowed. Resulting in them being easier to spam and kill.
While a normal heavy has a higher dmg output, he’s easier to flank, you can use corners to your advantage (peak and spam), and he can not pocket a medic as well (the slow stops anyone getting near your medic and gives him an easier time dodging).
Natascha is the most op shit ever. I’d rather play against a fan scout then a natascha heavy.

I agree.
i’ve started going natasha heavy for slow rolling the last point on granary uber vs uber as it pretty much guarentees victory, a large open area for me to just w+m1 forward firing at people at the otherside of the point to slow them down to a crawl – who can then just get focus spammed
this is just one example but there are so many situations where this weapon is stupidly gamebreaking, please ban this shit for s8
ps. allow gunboats, thanks (ill write up a thread arguing for and against gunboats one of these days..)

I really don’t see how Natasha is OP. If the other team drops a scout for a heavy, you have a massive speed and flanking advantage. If they drop a heavy class for a Natasha Heavy. Just put up a normal heavy, slowdown doesn’t affect him and the other dude’s fucked. I don’t get the point of this thread. I know I speak for other members of my team when I say that we all signed up for an evolving game, if you don’t want that, there’s Q3CPMA, CS:S and COD4:Promod. Team Fortress 2 is not going to stop bringing new things in until it’s dead. Imo, if the competitive community doesn’t move with this evolution (I’m not saying fully, but in part) I can easily see the whole comp side breaking down and being solely a way of making money. On a side note, the sandman and wrangler are currently 2 weapons without counter, short of a spy on every last push and a pyro with good reflecting skill covering 2 players each…
tl;dr: Team fortress is an evolving game – shouldn’t the competitive community adapt to and embrace the updates for what they are, an extension of depth to what would be a shallow game with vanilla?
