BTW changing aspectratio shows up on in-eyes demo, so if i bound it higher to a key you’d see it change. But ive been using 2 for a long time anyway.

It takes a while to get used to the aiming but 2/3 gives you some fov at the expense of making things look smaller/further away. It’s a trade off IMO it should be something you can only change by restarting the game to prevent having it bound to a key in game – but people should be able to choose their own permanent fov because ffs 90 fov feels like total shit (unless you come from CS) it’s like being partially zoomed in all the time.

I was pleased to hear about this setting because 2 feels perfect but yeah changing it in-game to something ridiculous that you could never play with, but just to have a gazelle-fov for a few seconds should not be allowed – it should be one of those settings you can’t change when connected to a server (a bit like the max_fps setting, try to change it in game you get an exception) but not kill it entirely because it’s essentially a trade-off between fov and the size of stuff on screen in pre-CS games that trade-of was accepted some preferred 120 fov some preferred 90, no big deal not everyone wants 90 :/

well this really weird and should be limited really, this kind of tweaks should be made automaticly by software in order to fit your screen res but this command should rlly be in cheat list. The best way to solve this is having a server side limit so that nobody can have bigger than x aspectratio. I understand that for surround gaming this is prolly something useful, but it is unfair for ppl who cant afford 3monitors and a matrox triple head xD. So even if u guys limit it must be server side… and fixed for everyone.

Have anyone actually really tried it? It makes horizontal and vertical mouse sensitivity different, makes you confused when moving, and after two minutes you get sick :P

As long as it’s in the game and it’s not making the game unplayable or unbalanced, it should definitely be allowed.

r_aspectratio 3 is sick once you get used to it.

if it messes with vert. / hor sens you can use mouse software to correct it.

Bash, if they would have been aware of it, I guess they would have fixed it. There are many cvar exploits that are discovered long time after the game is released and they just get fixed now.
The VALVe developer answered my email and told me that they’ll look into it on Monday.

awesome, I always played with fov 140 in tfc, so any chance to adjust my fov in this game would be awesome (sorry, can’t help it, I’m alien.)

I quite like r_aspectratio 2, though 3 is a bit extreme. I expect as it’s limited in other games a patch for TF2 will be along shortly…
