Hello,

This is to see what kind of need is out there for the North American based HL teams for needing a server. If you already have a server, then please ignore this thread.

I’m considering offering our match server to be used. All execution to run a match is via chat commands and does not require presence of an admin or rcon password. It automatically sets the ETF2L configuration and passwords the server. Even has deathmatch for warmup. It will also record a server demo, such that you may obtain it afterwards.

10-13-10: How to use the server using the Chat Commands!

Once your Match is reserved, I will post on the MatchLink, linking back to this thread.

1. Enter the server, issue in chat

!votemap mapname

to bring up voting for the map needed.

2. Stage 1 ready is to lock server with password and use ETF2L configs. Issue in chat

!match etf2l yourpassword

Server will be passworded and in tournament mode as shown by chat messages from console and the tournament mode gui up at the top. F4 will not work. :D

3. Each team then does their teamname:

!teamname name

4. Final part, 6 players from each team issue: !ready

Match will start and run for the complete round. Once done…returns the server back to deathmatch and ALL Talk.

Repeat above to start 2nd map.

If you need to restart the map due to crash, dropped player, or just plain agreement, then just have the blue team quickly completely the map. !votemap will not work b/c it is disabled once issuing !match

There will be a STV demo to record that action and log files if needed for disputes. So just be reasonable.

I will provide the rcon password, just in case to issue mapchange.

I’ll try to be online for anything, just in case.

This server is located in Dallas, Texas and hosted with Nuclear Fallout.

I’ll check back here to see if there is any interest and lastly, not looking for anything in return (e.g., no money). This is something I think would benefit the rest of the Highlander Community Challenge Teams.

Prerequisites for reservation of the server:

1. Matches for my team have Priority.
2. Reservations on a per Week Basis Only.
3. Provide link to Match Comms of Match in your request.
4. Provide date and time in CEST and EST. You are responsible for correct time and I will be going by EST.

Hey there,

Couple things for your request. First, you don’t have a Week 1 match and kudos for you in locking down the Week 2 and 3 matches. As I’ve noted in the OP, I can only reasonably reserve on a week to week basis and hope you understand this. Second, you are part of one of the biggest TF2 (established) communities out there…that has a number of servers.

I know I didn’t spell it out in the OP, but my intent here are for HL teams that want to play, but have no server and no idea how to setup/run one. Please solicit your great Community to support a server for you?

Please see the OP edits for providing some extra information. I can’t tell what team you are on as I need a Match Link.

@Everyone else — Please see the updated OP. I will attempt to be as reasonable as possible for this and happy to help out.

It’s your responsibility to follow this and know that changes will be done on case-by-case basis as I understand how things can fluctuate. Make sure you get confirmations from your opponents before requesting a reservation. View the Calendar…to help see what availability is.

I think that my team might be in need to use your server some time this coming week. I will get back to you once we get more information.

Ugh. I’ve been metaphorically fingered by a combination of sleep deprivation and miscommunication SO I would need to retract my 4PM PST (7PM EST) slot for September 30th. If possible I would like to reschedule it to 6PM PST (9PM EST) for Monday October 4th.
