It’s better to expand the current divs rather than make a new division for no reason. If div5 will be made bigger, it will fit more of the teams who roll div6, making div6 more friendly for starting teams.

Div 7 might not be a bad idea since playing div 6 is hell right now.
You get rolled in 15 minutes or you roll in 15 minutes… :/
Then the ones who get rolled go into div7 and the ones who roll stay in div 6 or move to div 5.
Im all for div 7, there is a massive gap of skill in div 6, I played with crazy for a couple of seasons and div 6 has a massive skill diffrence between each team.
Maybe only have 3/4 div 7 groups and to get into it you have to finish bottom half of a table in div 6 the season before. So basicly you nominate if you want to go down to div 7, you cant just join it being a cock to beast some low skill teams you have to prove your low skill.

adding more div’s isnt a solution imo, if teams are getting rolled in div6 then they need to improve, not have even lower skilled based div’s placed
That’s the problem though! For instance, Guru were Div 6 season 6, they won every map. Season 7 they came second in Div5. Now they’re doing OK in Div4. The teams in their season6 Div6 were really playing a top div 5 team, hence the ‘real’ div 6 teams got rolled.
It’s this that is the problem, it’s no-one’s fault, there’s no blame to be apportioned, but we’re trying to find a solution. Div7 or not, the entry ladder is a brilliant idea and may stop that kind of situation happening again.
Entry ladder ftw.
Yes… they should forbid to roll another team in div 6 ! Thats not how we treat each other!
go old skool…
i recall in TFC days, in particular UKTFCL (and my own league LTFL), you had to fill some some minimum requirements before being allowed into the league. I recall they were…
1) IRC Channel
2) Website with results page
dunno about higher level teams, but i know from experience that a lot of teams in the Div6 and Div5 region…. which is a very large bulk of teams… don’t even have basic contact info on their clan page. not even the proper steam id login name.
Not everyone uses IRC these days, but having a website with results page as a bare minimum required for league entry at least shows that a clan has stability. doesn’t have to be nothing special tbh, but shows there’s comitment behind the clan… and there’s loadsa free webspace out there to be had.
Most clans that fold early… but not all… won’t have a website or any kind of online presence that represents them other than their server and/or a steam group page.
only possible downside to this would be that it creates a little extra admin work, but the results don’t need to be obsessively checked over, just that the page is there and it looks like a results page. so couple clicks and a clan can be checked off an approved… and it’s not really that much of a downside, because even if it’s extra admin work in the early stages of a season, it’ll probably mean less work to do later in the season in regards to replacing clans etc.

It’s not 1995 anymore!
You have to have 2 contact methods before you can sign up to any league/cup at the moment if I remember well.

I like this idea. Unfortunately most people here are ~14 and don’t have that kind of money.

yeah, but i mean it doesn’t seem to get checked, as i’ve seen a few websites as “http:///”, steam usernames as steam player names, and even irc channels that don’t exist.
for example.
http://etf2l.org/teams/9524/
They have their website as http:// which links to http:///, their email address is hidden so clans can’t see it and so only has the steam username, so strictly 1 form of contact, assuming that ones correct.
and also
http://etf2l.org/teams/9413/
no website, email hidden and their irc clannel is #tf.wars …. they got one popular clan to have that many people in their irc channel ;)
granted it’s not EVERY team that does this, but seems a few teams slip the net by putting in fake details, and then take up places which other clans could have had. Also granted that these clans listed above are playing their league matches and haven’t dropped, but imo it doesn’t show stability and it makes it difficult and annoying for other clans to try and contact them through the contact details.
