I would not trust an out-of-the-blue link from anyone without getting verification of its context and without seriously checking out the website before entering any details it wants.

Seriously, how stupid can people be? This is straightforward stuff.

“but it’s easy to think nothing of it when you get a link from someone you’ve played the game with for some time, especially if you’ve spoken to them a lot recently.”

I couldn’t disagree more.

But you surely can’t disagree with the fact that you would trust a link from someone who you have known/talked too recently, and it doesn’t look suspicious..

I can disagree, I do disagree.

I check every link I get. End of. How do I check it? I look at the URL. It’s not hard. If I don’t recognise the site, I ask for more information. People will no doubt tell you that they have sent me links only to have the reply “What is that?” back.

Do it yourself, and you won’t get hacked.

As a meerkat once said, simples.

“The site doesnt look random at all, it looks exact like the steamcommunity.com site.”

You can’t use an underscore in the domain name.

He was being sarcastic, because he (for some reason) doesn’t like the fact that some people actually care about security, and have in place basic security measures which stop them from getting phished.
