We have allowed mercs when we started playing in etf2l, teams used higher div players a LOT.
div3 skill demos in div5 matches, div2 medics in div 4 matches etc, now we only allow mercs if they are from a clan that has played several seasons so we can realistically gauge the player’s skill-level.

The Dick move is the clans that don’t allow a suitable merc (same/similar division), to maximise their chances of winning.
I have to say well played to Wireplay for their new rules regarding mercs for the new season, the third point will hopefully stop clans refusing a merc just to gain an advantage (6v5) or a default win

• Any team needing to use a merc must seek approval with the other team to see if they agree, copies of conversations should be recorded in on match pages

Well, they take advantage of the fact that the other team are retards that can’t manage to get 6 people (or 5 rather, you can play with 5) together for a SCHEDULED match- that’s what happens in life, you snooze you loose.
They won’t make many friends that way, but obviously they care more about winning than your unorganised ass, so fair play to them imo. Lame when it happens to you, but it’s your own fault. QQ bitches.

Have you heard of things called ”accidents” or ”things that you didn’t expect to happen”?
People’s internet go down, or they could be held up from work that night because of something. These are just examples but for all the other team knows, it’s still a reason to not allow a merc.
yeah but im not buying that you are forming up a team of 6 people without considering a couple of replacements if anything happens
I think this thread was pointing out the attitude of the players of OMNOMNOM or whatever the clan is called… They were spamming the game with useless, taunting, moronic, etc binds.
I think the point of a game is to have fun, and even if it’s competitive play, show some sportsmanship. We’ve had some pretty close games where we both won and lost, everyone was really cool in these games, having a little chat afterwards, or just lol’ing about a stupid way of dying that just happened. On other times, where we either roll or get rolled, it’s the same thing, you just have chats afterwards about the game etc, but the attitude I noticed that game was horrible…
On the behalf on Omnomnom team we are terribly sorry if we offended you in any way. As a matter of fact the “lol” and “failure” which were mentioned ingame were directed to our team and teamchat actually. Anyways, we are sorry about causing a feeling in you that directed you in to making this thread.
The problem about in game text chat is it can be misconstrued. You can type “fail” about someone on your own team without pointing out who it was and the other team may take it as an insult on them.
I’ve seen this happen with my own team, they take offence to insults not aimed at them.
Simple mistakes, unfortunately :)
Or it’s just another set of tactics, mindgames. Getting someone angry or less concentrated because they take offense to something you type which causes them to play less good than they usually do, is just another way of getting an advantage. Isn’t always pretty, but it does indeed work at times.. That’s why I usually tell my own members to mute players ingame (yes, that actually blocks their text aswell) as soon as flaming shit starts :)
